Social Rights launches an ambitious intervention project with minors in the Barrio de los Rosales to fight against social exclusion (02/02/2018)

The Department of Social Rights, in its fight to reduce the figures of social exclusion, will carry out a project in the neighborhood of Rosales de El Palmar, which aims to address situations of inequality in childhood and adolescence, providing tools to this sector of the population to eradicate risk factors.

The activities and actions to be developed will be aimed at minors, families and groups, according to the profile, needs and interests of the population.

For this, the Governing Board of the City of Murcia has given the green light to the list of administrative clauses and particular technical requirements for contracting, through open procedure, the "Service for the implementation of the project of socio-educational and community intervention in the neighborhood of Los Rosales, from El Palmar, with a gender perspective ".

The investment will exceed € 240,000 and the execution period will be two years, extendable annually by two more.

The aim is to "generate a system of care and protection for children in a situation of social or vulnerable risk that allows guaranteeing the coverage of their basic needs, their security and integrity according to personal, family and social characteristics and a performance effective before the detected situations of childlike vulnerability ", explained Conchita Ruiz.

That is why it is intended to promote education in values, social skills and conflict resolution, education for health, environmental education, community activities and networking, actions and initiatives of intergenerational and intercultural coexistence, activities of animation and dynamization, rights human and children and activities for neighborhood participation and promotion.

Seven areas of action

For this reason there are 7 major areas of action on which it intends to work, focusing on the most vulnerable groups and ethnic minorities, which seek to develop those minors at risk and facilitate their integration.

To this end, at the educational level, support is given to the educational process of minors and adolescents, in addition to implementing positive action measures to address the specific needs of integration in the school and community environment and the decrease in absenteeism, abandonment and school failure.

It is also intended to influence free time and leisure, to "prevent situations of risk or social exclusion of children and adolescents, through leisure activities and free time appropriate to the different stages of development, diversified in their content and adapted to the environment ", highlighted Conchita Ruiz.

"Promoting attitudes of respect and tolerance to difference, interculturality, gender equality, responsible consumption, the appropriate use of new technologies and respect for the environment, through play and leisure, is essential to promote their participation and access to the municipal resources that are available. "

To this is added, in health, the promotion of healthy lifestyles to achieve the psychosocial well-being of families and children in vulnerable situations.

And as for the care of housing and community infrastructure, will be enabled information and training programs to promote the improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of the neighborhood in relation to housing, promoting good use and care of the urban environment or advice on resources for access to decent housing.

In terms of economy, guide and advise families to ensure coverage of the basic needs of its members, inform employment and training resources for employment and self-employment, provide pre-employment skills mainly to young people, as a step prior to the socio-labor insertion or promote actions of responsible consumption.

Finally, it is intended to promote coordination and cooperation with other agents and entities that act in the neighborhood, collaborate in their initiatives of other agents that act in the neighborhood and encourage actions and participation of social volunteering.
