Orchards of leisure

The municipal leisure gardens are spaces conditioned by the City of Murcia, and managed by the Environment Service, for the cultivation of vegetables under self-consumption, non-profit, combining social, educational, environmental and heritage benefits, since local varieties are in danger of extinction.

This activity is offered by public call to citizens of Murcia, giving preference to those who are retired, early retirement or unemployed.

They can also opt for a plot of non-profit citizen entities with social insertion projects.

Applicants must be residents of the municipality of Murcia and comply with the provisions of the general rules of use, relating to the occupation of municipal land for leisure gardens.

The orchards are awarded by public lottery for a period of two years, with the option of renewal.
