The Murcian company Winbi, together with the UCAM, has carried out an investigation based on a new product line for athletes through a combination of mineral salts that provide all the gastronomic, nutritional and therapeutic properties of seawater.
Its main function is to act against fatigue and provide hydration before, during and after physical exercise for optimal sports performance.
This new line has started in the development of products such as energy bars, candies and minerals in solution.
The event, which took place in the Plaza de las Pérgolas of the University, was led by elite athletes such as Tere Nimes, Dolores Marco, Iñaki Urroz, David Corredor, Ana Carrasco and David Cal. Triathlete David Corredor stressed that Thanks to this Winbi product, it has obtained better results in its competitions, since "it avoids that it suffers cramps".
In addition, former canoeist David Cal has said that "hydration is very important to recover the mineral salts that you lose in each workout, especially in endurance sports."
Research on sports hydration
Javier López Román, researcher and director of the Chair of Exercise Physiology at the Catholic University of Murcia, carried out a study together with the Murcian company Winbi, in June 2016 with the aim of combating fatigue in sports.
This research was based on supplying the athlete with the Winbi product with a combination of mineral salts, twenty minutes before physical activity, during one and a half hours of intense exercise and after the activity.
The aim was to assess the level of fatigue and the behavior of its physiological variables in the body: "We obtained quite interesting results, with adequate maintenance in glucose, sodium and hydration and with an optimal level of fatigue." Furthermore, this fatigue was less marked after 24 hours with what indicated that the recovery was ideal ".
