The Local Council of Commerce studies stimulus measures to alleviate the damages to the establishments affected by the burial works (23/01/2018)

Maruja Pelegrín, Councilor for Trade, Organization and Institutional Relations presides over the meeting in which representatives of the opposition and associations of merchants have been present. In this way, the participatory process continues, which will make it possible to submit contributions until February 12.

The members of the Local Trade Council met this morning to give first-hand knowledge of the incidence of burial works on consumption patterns in the population of the southern neighborhoods of Murcia.

The Councilor for Trade, Organization and Institutional Relations, Maruja Pelegrín, was in charge of chairing the meeting and informing those present about the impact that this infrastructure will have on a daily basis and the economic measures that could be adopted.

He also explained that the participatory process continues and that until February 12 will be collected proposals for parties and associations.

It will be the 21st when they will be analyzed and debated in a definitive way, so that a final draft can be drawn up and presented to the Governing Board.

For this reason it has been reported the study prepared by the City Council, through the Local Socioeconomic Observatory of Murcia (La Asomada), in collaboration with the University of Murcia, "The economic activity of proximity in the environment of Phase 0 of the works of underground railway in Murcia ".

"Given that this area will suffer major works in the coming months, we will try to alleviate the damage they will have in the area." La Asomada Observatory estimates that businesses located within a distance of up to 500 meters from the works are affected ", explained the Councilor for Commerce.

At the meeting it was unanimously adopted by all those present that the valuation criteria are governed by the possible damage resulting from the dismissal caused by the decrease in commercial activity, as well as the difference in turnover, something that is still in debate.

A work carried out in order to complete and improve the draft of the bases of the I Call for the granting of subsidies for the economic activities of proximity in the vicinity of the works of the burial project on its way through Murcia.

"The objective is to strengthen the neighborhood trade in the environment affected by the burial works that began on November 15, with direct support measures that allow small and medium businesses to maintain jobs, contribute to the payment of rent rents and Social Security contributions ", concluded Maruja Pelegrín.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the main associations and federations of the sector of the municipality, the Official Chamber of Commerce of Murcia and political groups of the City of Murcia.
