The Court of Honor of Our Lady of the Fuensanta has presented this morning the design of a new cloak for the patron saint of Murcia, in which all Murcia can give a stitch.
A new mantle for 'La Morenica' that has one objective: to be an invocation for peace.
The president of the Court of Honor, Pilar Cáceres, explained before the media, in a press conference held in the Episcopal Palace, that all citizens who wish may participate embroidering this mantle during the months of March and April.
This collaboration will be supervised by embroidery professionals;
and the most delicate part of it will be carried out in the Paso Blanco de Lorca workshops.
An anonymous person has been the one who has given the fabric, on which the design of the architect Fernando Garrido Rodríguez will be shown, who has indicated that in the center the Holy Trinity will be shown, surrounded by stars, which symbolize the Virgin, and the rest will represent a sky full of birds.
"The Virgen de la Fuensanta is the most important shared common heritage of Murcia".
With these words, José Ballesta, Mayor of Murcia, thanked the initiative carried out by the Court of Honor, because "there is no other element -referring to the patron saint of the city- that a little affection and love of all Murcia" .
He has also emphasized the importance of "not abandoning roots and traditions."
For his part, the Bishop of Cartagena, Msgr. José Manuel Lorca Planes, reminded St. Francis of Assisi and his prayer for peace, encouraging those present to see the cloak as "a commitment for peace" of each one of them. participants.
