The Secretary of State of Tourism grants to 'The lunches of tourism' the prize for the Best Improvement Project of the Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destination (13/01/2018)

The Secretary of State for Tourism has awarded 'The lunches of tourism' the prize for the Best Improvement Project of the Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destination 2017, "in recognition of the achievement of a collective initiative to improve the overall quality of the destination".

The award ceremony will be held on January 19 at 12 noon in Fitur.

'The lunches of tourism' has been an initiative launched last year by the Department of Employment, Tourism and Culture, directed by Jesús Pacheco, aimed at companies and services distinguished with the Tourism Quality Commitment, in order to extend and consolidate the culture of quality.

This first edition, offered three training actions developed in the municipal museums and in which were addressed needs of the different subsectors that make up the Integral System of Spanish Tourist Quality in Destinations in the municipality of Murcia.

What is sought with this initiative is the integral and permanent management of the quality of the services and products offered to tourists visiting the city, offering companies and services distinguished with the Tourist Quality Commitment new training actions that will help them in the process of continuous improvement.

On the other hand, Murcia has been chosen to form part of the Interdestine Committee of the Integral System of Spanish Tourist Quality in Destinations for the next two years.

Thus, the municipality will be vocal on behalf of Group C together with Sanxenxo, Málaga and Rioja Alavesa.

The Interdestinos Technical Committee is a participation body aimed at the exchange of information, actions and evolution of the implementation of the system in the participating destinations, the harmonization of the actions carried out by each of the destinations and the supervision of the correct implementation of the SICTED model.

It is formed by representatives of the Tourism Secretariat of the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, the Institute for Tourism Quality, representatives of autonomous communities, and the destinations representing everyone according to the number population.

Murcia already has 106 companies and services distinguished with the Tourism Quality Commitment, thus advancing to the sixth position among the 191 destinations that participate in the project nationwide.

The Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco, explained that "in these years, the City has made significant efforts to expand and consolidate the implementation of the Integrated Tourism Quality System in Destinations (SICTED), conducting an intense awareness-raising work and training of entrepreneurs and public services in the tourism sector, with the aim of improving tourism offer by incorporating quality and excellence criteria throughout the itinerary of tourist consumption, to make Murcia a quality destination. "
