Murcia will show its patrimonial wealth and will boost family tourism in Fitur 2018 (08/01/2018)

During the celebration of the International Tourism Fair, it is planned to sign a collaboration agreement between Mayor José Ballesta and the president of RENFE, which will lay the foundations for future actions that will be jointly carried out to promote the line high speed Murcia-Madrid

The Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, this morning held a meeting with representatives of the Association of Collaborating Members of the Office of Congresses of Murcia and tourism experts to continue working on the actions to be developed in Fitur, which will be held from January 17 to 21 in Madrid.

Thus, during the next edition of the International Tourism Fair, the City Council has planned a series of activities aimed at the tourist promotion of the city, having already confirmed an agenda of more than 20 visits with operators and professional agents.

In this way, from the Department of Employment, Tourism and Culture will take advantage of the declaration of 2018 as European Year of Cultural Heritage for the municipality of Murcia on Wednesday 17 a promotional video called 'Murcia Mediterranean Heritage', in which It will show a renewed and complete image of a sample of the cultural heritage of the municipality.

Another new feature will be the strengthening of family tourism following the lines of action marked in the Tourism Operational Plan of the municipality.

For this, a tourist activity adapted to the youngest ones will be presented, which, under the name 'Murcia en Detalles Kids', will allow the involvement of parents and teachers through entertainment, offering the children a different and original way of contemplating the city and its heritage, boosting the routes and tourist trips through the historic center of Murcia and thus awakening the interest of children for history and art.

With this same objective of promoting family and cultural tourism, various tour packages have been created that offer families visiting the municipality free admission to museums and emblematic buildings, a guided tour of the city, as well as the entrance to the Terra Natura park or a boat trip on the river.

During the celebration of Fitur, Murcia will be represented at the ordinary annual assembly of the network of AVE cities, to be held in Madrid.

It is also planned to sign a collaboration agreement between Mayor José Ballesta and the president of RENFE, which will lay the foundations for future actions that will jointly be carried out for the promotion of the Murcia-Madrid high-speed line, such as familiarization trips with journalists and travel agents, projection of promotional videos of the city on trains, custom seat headers ...

Likewise and thanks to the aforementioned agreement, future visitors will have significant discounts (in some cases up to 35%) to reach Murcia, especially in the sector of congresses where more than 20,000 people can benefit from these offers, assuming they save more than 700,000 euros.
