More than 300,000 Murcians and visitors participate and attend the 500 activities programmed during the Christmas holidays (08/01/2018)

The Cabalgata de Reyes, with 60,000 spectators, the large Christmas tree, with 120,000 attendees, and the first fluvial parade in the history of the municipality, led by Santa Claus, with 20,000 people, have been the most participatory events.

Among the novelties of this year highlights the success recorded by the surprise of New Year, the show 'Candles and winds', which was seen by 3,000 people, and the Christmas Market installed in the Glorieta, which received about 15,000 visits

Murcia has returned, one more year, to register a high degree of participation in the more than half a thousand cultural and leisure events organized by the City Council for the whole family this Christmas.

The Cabalgata de los Reyes has been the most participative event, breaking records again with the attendance of more than 60,000 people, while the large Christmas tree in the Plaza Circular has become one of the most visited venues this holiday season, reaching a figure of 120,000 attendees.

Of these, more than 15,000 people gathered to watch the fire show, to which are added the more than a thousand children who, on average every day (for 35 days), have participated in the activities and workshops, which adds close to 40,000.

In addition, more than 2,000 people a day have visited the tree and attended the organized concert cycle, which amounts to 70,000.

Of the novelties of this year's program, highlights the success of the great surprise of New Year, starring Xarxa Teatre and his show 'Velas y vientos' was seen by 3,000 people, as well as the Christmas Market installed in the Glorieta, which received about 15,000 visits.

On the other hand, the shows 'Brinde con nosotros', 'Melodías en el Moneo' and 'Sombras chinescas' brought together 18,000 people in the Plaza de Belluga.

In addition, the arrival and the parade of Santa Claus, the first fluvial parade made in Murcia, monopolized the attention of 20,000 spectators, in the same way that his house was visited by 35,000 people and the Municipal Bethlehem was seen by about 38,000.

Tranquility and security

Despite the crowds and concentrations registered during Christmas, there has been no major incident, thanks, on the one hand, to the civic spirit and the spirit of understanding and coexistence of Murcia, as well as to the proper functioning of the Security Plan in which 290 agents have participated.

The purpose of the device was to ensure the mobility and road safety of citizens, on the one hand, and to promote the prevention of theft and unauthorized street sales.
