The PSOE demands that the bases of the oppositions of the Local Police be modified and that the deadline for the submission of candidates be extended (08/01/2018)

Larrosa translates the petition to the Governing Board to allow them to opt for the 47 vacancies offered by the City Council to people who do not have the driver's license A and who measure less than 1.70 men and 1.65 women, and the councilman notes that in the municipality of Murcia missing about 400 agents

The Municipal Socialist Group will ask the Governing Board of the City of Murcia to modify the bases of the oppositions to the Local Police allowing them to be presented to the same people who do not have the driver's license A, as well as reducing the required size.

Likewise, the PSOE in the Consistory will demand that the term be extended in 20 calendar days to submit applications to this contest that offers 47 vacancies and whose term ends on the 28th of this month of January.

This double request, formulated through a communication presented by the councilor Juan Vicente Larrosa to the delegate delegate for the Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, occurs after the objections have been made by applicants to be local agents in the municipality who were prevented from opting for a seat for reasons of height or for lacking the driver's license A for motorcycles of any displacement.

Those resources will cause the process to be delayed and "meanwhile Murcia still needs more local police to be far from the ratio recommended by the European Union of two agents per thousand inhabitants," as pointed out by Juan Vicente Larrosa, PSOE councilor.

"In fact, that average in the municipality is 1.2 and the retirements that have not been replaced by other police officers have caused us to lose 71 officers during the last year, which means we have only 500 police officers when there should be 900" , explained the socialist mayor.

Last December 29 Larrosa already showed the discomfort that these bases have generated and criticized the Government Team led by Mayor José Ballesta for allowing candidates to be imposed higher than, for example, the national police, and They must have the driver's license A, which can only be obtained once they are 20 years old.

Another reason for controversy is the minimum height required to opt to be local police in Murcia -1,70 meters for men and 1,65 for women-, while from the unions it has been claimed to lower that limit in 5 centimeters .

"The minimum height required is higher than the one that is proposed for the National Police and is also higher than that applied in other European countries," said Larrosa, who, on the need to have the A card, has indicated that "Murcia is the only municipality in which a traffic permit is required that is superior to that of both the National Police and the Civil Guard when the agents of those bodies control traffic on motorways and motorways."

The PSOE, which presented allegations in this regard at the General Negotiating Table on November 24, expects the City Council to reconsider and make equal opportunities prevail among candidates for local police positions.
