The Service of Parks and Gardens, of the Department of Modernization of the Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, directed by José Guillén, has already completed the work of installing a pergola in the playground area of ​​the Lobosillo shopping plaza.
In this way, this space for the little ones is covered with microperforated fabric that provides shade and protects from excessive sun exposure but transpires and lets in light, water and wind, making it ideal for these children's areas .
The council continues to develop its SOMBRA Plan that seeks to cover numerous playgrounds in Murcia and districts.
Thus, in the last months these works have been developed in Valladolises, Joven Futura, avenue of Europe, San Andrés, Los Garres, Espinardo or Avenida de la Libertad.
The next pergolas to be installed are those of the Joaquín García Cabezos garden in Eras Alta and that of the children's area behind the municipal center of La Ñora.
The Park and Garden Service has carried out a study of the shade projections of trees and buildings in the green areas of the municipality in order that at least 50% have shade, combining these awnings with trees.
In this way the integration of natural shade plus the pergola is sought as an integration of elements of civil works with the park.
This initiative is part of the SOMBRA Plan and the intention of the Department of Modernization to convert children's areas into spaces 100% safe, with rubber pavement and fences to ensure an environment adapted to the smallest.
According to Councilman José Guillén, "we want the gardens to be living, meeting and enjoyment spaces for families and neighbors of all ages and that is why we are carrying out this plan to improve green areas in order to provide them with all the necessary facilities for Murcia to live their gardens. "
