NOW MURCIA denounces that the scarce endowment of health resources in the municipality is "clearly insufficient", "a situation that affects users throughout the year but which becomes untenable in periods, such as the one we are experiencing these days, in which the care pressure increases ".

The spokeswoman of Now Murcia, Alicia Morales, underlines that "this lack of health resources is especially bleeding in the case of pediatric emergencies, since among the three hospitals of the municipality, which cover three health areas and 700 thousand people, only one hospital , the Arrixaca, has this crucial children's service ".

The mayor points, as evidence of this need to increase pediatric emergencies, the fact that this weekend has been in Children Arrixaca about 400 children admitted, when the usual ratio is 171, as noted by the medical union .

"The pediatric emergency service was expanded a few months ago, but has not been sufficiently staffed, which is clearly overwhelmed," says Morales.

"It is clear that it is necessary to strengthen the emergency services before the annual arrival of the flu, but we also have to reinforce primary care throughout the year," he explains.

In this sense, Morales highlights that the health centers of the municipality are closed in the afternoon due to the cuts, "which causes many people who can not go in the morning what they do is go to the emergency room, which the care pressure increases ".

The councilor highlights "the enormous effort and work of health professionals in the emergency services in the situation we are living these days" and points to the need "for the PP to plan once and seriously the health resources of the municipality Having sufficient space and staff for professionals to perform their important work without going out of their way, we must take measures and put the means for situations such as those experienced these days, with people who have had to be transferred from Murcia to Cartagena to to be treated in the emergency room, do not repeat it.
