The Program of Information and Environmental Awareness of the Department of Urban Planning, Environment and Garden, led by Antonio Navarro Corchón, has involved the participation during this year 2017 of more than 5,000 people who have carried out the activities proposed by the program or have used the environmental information services that the City Council makes available to visitors in the Municipal Park of Majal Blanco and in the area of La Contraparada.

The main novelty has been the workshops of nature to family groups, which aim to involve the little ones in the conservation and knowledge of the natural spaces of the municipality.

In the Majal Blanco 1,054 people have been served at the Environmental Information Point that the Department opens during weekends and holidays in the Plaza de las Moreras.

For its part, the Visitor Center, open on Sundays in the nature classroom, has received the visit of 259 people.

These two services will maintain their opening hours during the Christmas holidays, remaining closed on December 25, January 1 and 6.

The information point of La Contraparada has registered a large number of visitors throughout this year, both for the interest of the site and for operating in parallel as a sealing point for pilgrims who are going to Caravaca for the Jubilee Year.

Specifically 2524 people have been served in it.

Of the 33 specific activities developed during this period, 19 have been guided environmental itineraries in which 387 people have participated.

In addition to the itineraries through the Majal Blanco, new routes have been added, such as the plaster mines of the Miravete, the Rambla del Cigarrón, or an itinerary to the Contraparada by the river and the orchard.

The 4 nature workshops and seminars, held both in the Majal Blanco and in the Contraparada center, have registered the participation of 52 people.

In all of them, the participation of family groups has been encouraged.

There have been workshops to learn about the flora of the Contraparada environment through the realization of a herbarium and knowledge of the nature of the place in the fall, a family gymkhana in the surroundings of Majal Blanco and the traditional Christmas sweets workshop , that this year has celebrated its 15th edition.

Also from November 27 to December 5 a campaign was carried out to publicize the environmental volunteer program "Hacemos pineapple".

During the campaign, 35 people were informed about the program and 9 new registrations were made.
