The PSOE puts on the table a possible solution based on a technical report to subrogate the workers of the public lighting (27/12/2017)

The Municipal Socialist Group presented this morning the report prepared by the vice president of the College of Social Graduates in which a possible solution is proposed to subrogate the maintenance workers of public lighting and low and medium voltage facilities, since the The contract ends and the City Council must open a process to award the new contract, so that these workers risk ceasing to provide the service after 25 years.

As promised in the plenary last week, the socialist councilor Sebastián Peñaranda, during the defense of an emergency motion presented by all opposition groups, today presented a technical report to check if there were any loopholes in the law. prevent these 55 workers from staying on the street, since "we are firm defenders of job stability".

During the meeting held this morning to address this issue, Peñaranda has presented the report to the technicians and heads of the government team, who have valued it, although, at first, they have warned that it is not a substitute for mandatory municipal reports.

The councilor has declared that "we will be vigilant so that this document serves as an argument for the defense of the rights of the affected workers".

In the aforementioned study, it is stated that the City Council's own Legal Services define as the production unit the Public Lighting Service and this qualification falls under Article 44 of the Workers' Statute.

Therefore, there can be a succession of the production unit, composed of the workers and the technical components.

In addition, it states that the provision of the service for more than 25 years "does not stop being an acquired right, according to article 3.1 section C of the Workers' Statute".

The PSOE already presented two allegations in the contracting service of the City of Murcia insisting on the subrogation of the workers of the concessionary company of public lighting in the municipality so that the 55 workers who develop their professional activity in the company Electromur SA maintain their posts.

Likewise, we must remember, as Peñaranda explains, that a week ago the PSOE, together with the rest of the opposition groups, demanded that the government team establish a single criterion to resolve the illegal cession of workers in the City of Murcia, that "the situation at the moment is like walking through a minefield, when there is no conflict with Home Aid workers, it is with the Ramón Gaya Museum, with the Statistics, the City Museum ... and it seems that the PP does not know how to find a dignified, legal and fair solution, "the councilor pointed out.

He adds that "in the coming months we will encounter similar conflicts in which the main victims will continue to be the workers and their families."
