The Municipal Group claims the mayor to meet the commitment acquired in the Rural Development Plan and that involves the placement of more than 1,400 inhabitants of the Campo de Murcia, as well as works in the surroundings and aid to the establishments of the districts in which will locate the aerodrome

The spokesperson of the Municipal Socialist Group in the City of Murcia, Susana Hernandez, has demanded that Mayor José Ballesta fulfill the commitment acquired by the City Council with the residents of the districts of the Campo de Murcia under the Rural Development Plan (PDR) linked to the construction and operation of the airport, which has been paralyzed for years.

Hernandez has shown the concern in the Campo de Murcia for the lack of response from the Consistory to the announcement that the operator Aena has finally made the concession to finally start this installation and just when tomorrow the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, will visit the municipality to discuss issues related to infrastructure projects in the Region.

The PDR establishes as a first strategic line the promotion of the occupation with local labor, which would entail the employment of more than 1,400 workers between direct and indirect positions and for that reason at the beginning of 2011 the process of recruitment of candidates with the active population of the area.

The next step was the training of these applicants, which did not occur when the courses were paralyzed by the Employment and Training Service (SEF) due to the continuous delays accumulated at the opening of the airport.

In fact, in 2012 the City had planned to train 330 residents of the Campo de Murcia, of which 80%, ie 264 people, who would stay to work directly at the airport, according to calculations made by the Department of Employment.

Likewise, the aforementioned Rural Development Plan contemplates the consolidation and promotion of agricultural activity in the area, including seeking the identification of 'fresh produce from the Campo de Murcia' to prestige and disseminate local productions.

Another aspect proposed with the opening of the airport has to do with access to the information society to the productive sectors and the population in general, promoting the introduction of agricultural technological improvements, especially those related to irrigation efficiency.

In addition, the Plan includes investment in infrastructure improvements and general services in the territory, such as the adaptation of roads and roads and their signaling, most of which have not been undertaken.

Susana Hernandez has criticized that "we have not listened for months about the repercussion that the opening of the airport will have for the neighbors of the area and most of the measures included in this Rural Development Plan have not been carried out".
