Five schools in the municipality incorporate artificial shading areas in their courtyards (20/12/2017)

"In the school playgrounds of five CEIPs, actions are being carried out to increase the shaded area, reduce solar radiation and minimize the summer heat, for which a double strategy is being followed, which in some cases combines natural and of artificial shadow, "explained José Ballesta during the presentation.

The natural shading strategy is carried out with the planting of tree species that project large areas of shade, and pruning systems that allow the branches of tree groups to be woven together, creating fresh shaded environments or malls.

"It should be noted that the surface of shade generated by each tree, with an age of 5 or 6 years, is an approximate surface of 12 square meters of shade, multiplied by the number of existing units in each patio granting the protected space of the sun's rays. "

The implementation of the strategy of natural shade is being carried out for several years with the planting of mulberry trees, beginning in the autumn of 2016 the pruning of mulberry interlacing.

On the other hand, the artificial shading strategy is being implemented with the implementation of modular pergolas, usually consisting of four sections.

The modules are designed with a large beach umbrella that holds between its arms the colored plates, blue, yellow, green, and red (colors of the parchís), with a sequence of alternate shapes that remind of the children's toy of the windmill .

At present the strategy of artificial shading is materializing with the execution of five performances in the schools CEIP Juan XXIII in the neighborhood of Ranero, CEIP San Juan, CEIP Ntra. Sra. De la Paz, CEIP Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente in the neighborhood of El Carmen and CEIP Sacred Heart in Zeneta, with a budget of € 45,000.

New performances

The Councilor for Education Rafael Gómez has held meetings in recent days with members of the group of Directors of the Municipality of Murcia who develop the directive function in public schools in the municipality, and FAPA, with the aim of agreeing on the next actions to take cape.
