The Big Tree of the Circular welcomes this afternoon the distribution of 4,500 rations Murciatone (19/12/2017)

Murcian confectioners offer "the essence and flavor of the Region of Murcia in a single bite" in this indigenous version of Panetone.

Peaches from Cieza, almonds from Campo de Cartagena and Sierra Espuña, apricots from Caravaca and Cehegín, lemons and oranges from Murcia, melon from Mar Menor and raisins from Bullas, Jumilla and Yecla are some of the products used in this artisanal sweet.

The Big Tree of the Circular welcomes this afternoon, from 17.30, the distribution of more than 4,500 rations Murciatone, the new Murcian Christmas dessert made entirely with products from the Region of Murcia and 100% handmade.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco, will present this sweet together with the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Javier Celdrán, the president of the Regional Association of Pastry Businessmen (AREPA ), Ricardo Ruiz, and a score of Murcian bakers who have prepared the recipe.

In total, 150 Murciatones will be distributed free of charge, of which more than 4,500 servings will be obtained, accompanied by coffee, thanks to the collaboration of Salzillo Coffee & Tea.

The purpose of this initiative is to promote the Murcian pastry and the raw materials of our land, under the motto 'Discover the smell and flavor of the Region of Murcia in a single bite.

Murciatone: handcrafted with products from the Region '.

The nearly 30 members that make up the Regional Association of Pastry Businessmen of the Region have worked together until they have been able to produce products from the Region of Murcia and handcrafted the Panetone Murcia.

The Murciatone is presented as a regional flagship product for tasting in homes Murcia and also for tourists who want to take it to their cities of origin.

The ingredients used, as well as the municipalities of origin, are the following:

Cieza peach

Bulbous apricot from Caravaca and Cehegín.

But from Alcuza de Cehegín.

Almond of the Field of Cartagena (Fuente Álamo, Torre Pacheco, San Javier, La Union, San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcázares), and the skirt of Sierra Espuña (Alhama de Murcia and Totana ).

Cantaloupe Melon from the Mar Menor (Cartagena, San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcázares), Pacheco Tower and Lorca.

Lemon and Orange of Murcia.

Raisins Bullas, Jumilla and Yecla.

Salt of San Pedro del Pinatar.
