The Municipal Socialist Group has once again insisted on the elimination of another Francoist symbol, an existing shield in the Plaza de Santa Catalina, which appears with the inscriptions of "Non Plus Ultra" and "Una, Grande y Libre".
In that sense, Councilor Begoña García Retegui has criticized the government team for "not being able to comply with the Historical Memory" and that "once again, we must be remembering the mandatory compliance with the Law of Historical Memory street by street and symbol to symbol, when the substitution of these reminiscences that are part of a past that nobody wants to remember should be normalized ".
It also describes that in the case of the Plaza de Santa Catalina there is a sculpture monolith crowned by an image of the Immaculate Conception.
In its part oriented to the west, there is the aforementioned Francoist coat of arms that says "Non Plus Ultra" and "Una, Grande y Libre", and on the noon-south side Franco's dictator is mentioned in an inscription.
For this reason it requests that the symbols and denominations that suppose an exaltation to the dictatorship be withdrawn, thus giving fulfillment to the aforementioned Law of Historical Memory.
