The UCAM and QualitecFarma sign a collaboration agreement for the investigation of new drugs against digestive, neurological and spinal cord injuries.
These will be the first projects that will promote these two institutions together for the development of new medicines
The UCAM and QualitecFarma-entity that is dedicated to the research and development of medicines, have signed a collaboration agreement that augurs some successful scientific results to the work done for the research of new drugs.
The Murcian institution, through the Chair Research, Development and Biomedical Innovation, the International Chair of Statistical Analysis "Big Data" and the Research Methodological Support Unit (UAMI), will execute jointly with the company from Madrid, present in almost every country in the world, a study for the discovery and development of new drugs for diseases of digestive, neurological and spinal cord injuries, as a starting point.
The agreement has been signed by José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM and Óscar Mesa del Castillo Rivera, general director of QualitecFarma;
accompanied by Ángel Pueyo, director of the Chair Research, Development and Biomedical Innovation of the UCAM;
Luis Tejada, director of the Office of Transfer of Research Results (OTRI);
Jerónimo Lajara, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Mar Municio, responsible for Clinical Operations at QualitecFarma.
Ángel Pueyo, director of the Chair, said that each of the three working groups that will participate from the UCAM will have a different role to support from the beginning of the projects to retrieve the extracted data and turn them into information, adding that this new collaboration network will allow strengthening the methodological and legal aspects, which are very complex and very long;
besides allowing the use of very advanced statistical techniques that suppose a real advance.
To these statements, the general director of QualitecFarma, Óscar Mesa del Castillo, added that the UCAM is a support to continue adding value to the research processes "to private investigation must be projected." Collaboration between private industry, service provider and university generates communications and publications that give impact to the projects we are doing ";
adding that some of the arguments that have prompted them to start this activity with the Catholic University of San Antonio de Murcia, are due to the quality of their chairs, technical equipment and, fundamentally, the philosophy of work of the University from the point of view ethical and professional, very consistent with that of QualitecFarma.
