On November 29, the Welcome session to the DEcIDE program for the 2017-2018 academic year took place.
DECIDE is an interuniversity doctorate program in economics, promoted by doctors from the University of Murcia, which acts as a coordinating university, and currently provides 31 PhDs as thesis supervisors.
The other institutions with which they collaborate are the University of Alicante, currently with 10 doctors, the Miguel Hernández University with 5, the UNED with 11 and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena with 8.
These researchers are the authors of several articles in international scientific journals of high impact in their specialty, which make them apt to direct theses of scientific relevance.
The program also has formal collaborations with foreign researchers from prestigious universities and institutions such as Oxford University in the United Kingdom or Erasmus Universiteit in the Netherlands, among others.
This initiative, which began in January 2014, currently has about 90 students spread over four continents, who benefit from the infrastructures of the program to do their doctoral thesis in person or remotely.
The first theses have already been successfully defended.
These resulted in publications in international impact journals, a sine qua non requirement that the program is required to authorize the defense of the thesis.
For this course, the deposit and defense of several doctoral theses is foreseen.
During the event, which took place in the Seminar of the Department of Quantitative Methods for Economics and Business of the Faculty of Economics and was broadcast live for doctoral students and doctors residing outside of Murcia, the operation of the program was made known and its main characteristics.
