The municipal archives will digitize 18,000 pages of the Civil Registry of Deaths and Marriages and 15,000 of the Royal Charts (01/12/2017)

The Governing Board has given the green light to the project and specifications to contract the digitalization of archive documents, books and historical press of the XVI-XX centuries.

The aim is to digitize the Civil Registry Books of Deaths and Books of Civil Registry of Marriages from 1841 to 1872, which will amount to about 18,000 pages.

On the other hand, we will work with the series of Royal Letters that contain the documents sent to the Council of Murcia by the Castilian monarchs.

Up to this moment, around 40 books have been digitized, covering a chronological period from 1314 to 1700. In this phase, part of the books belonging to the XVIII century (1701-1752), with more than 15,000 pages, will be digitized.

Likewise, we will proceed to digitize the Books of Registration of the Cemetery of Our Father Jesus since 1887, an important source of personal information since it contains lists of all those buried in said cemetery, and other real documents contained in other documentary series of the archive.

In terms of press funds, and with more than one million pages of newspapers already digitized so far by the archive, in this new phase has been selected, among others, the decade 1890 to 1900 of the Official Gazette of the Province of Murcia, ending with the uninterrupted digitization from its first issue, appeared on July 2, 1833, and whose complete collection is preserved in these facilities.

The Municipal Archive continues with the policy of conservation and dissemination of the Historical and Documentary Heritage of the City of Murcia through various projects such as Digitalization of Historical Press, initiated in 2002, Digitization of Bibliographic Funds, started in 2008 and Document Digitalization Archive, started in 2005. Over the last 15 years, more than one million pages have been placed in the public domain for consultation through the Archive's website, which has facilitated the dissemination of heritage.

The digitalization of all the originals of the Archive will be done in TIFF and JPG format, with a minimum resolution of 400 dpi without understanding, in color on a scale of 16.7 million colors and 256 gammas of grays.

The maximum price is 33,702.34 euros and the works will be carried out within a maximum period of six months.
