Murcia welcomes Christmas with an unprecedented show of music, light and snow around the Great Circular Tree (01/12/2017)

La Redonda will host winter sports, games, workshops, performances for the whole family, the Royal Mailbox and audiovisual shows during all the parties.

The starting signal will be tomorrow, Saturday, with performances by Ruth Lorenzo and Siempre Así, fireworks and sensory experiences around the Great Tree of the City of Murcia.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, and Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, today presented the program of activities and the act of lighting on Saturday the Great Tree of Christmas of the City of Murcia, an act that has had the presence of representatives of the musical, vocal, dance and folklore groups that will offer their performances around the Tree, as well as the sponsors and collaborators who finance the activities.

"The kick-off of Christmas in Murcia will be tomorrow Saturday, from 7:00 pm, in the Plaza Circular," announced José Ballesta, who noted that "it will be an unprecedented experience that we premiered this year, in which we will feel the snow and we will enjoy the passion and talent of the first Godmother of our Christmas Tree, the Murcian singer Ruth Lorenzo ".

The spectators will attend a dazzling show in open that will have sensory effects, fireworks, audiovisual projections and also the live music of the Sevillian band Siempre Así, which will offer a repertoire loaded with Christmas themes.

Today the assembly work of the Big Tree is being finalized. This year it gains in height, with a total of 40 meters and 60,000 lights of low consumption.

The center of the Tree will have blocks of ice and a winter themed area that can be visited.

Free activities during all holidays

Around the installation of La Redonda there will be winter sports, games, workshops, performances for the whole family, a great Birth, the Royal Mailbox and audiovisual shows during all the parties.

All activities are free.

Specifically, storytelling (also bilingual), dances, theater and Christmas magic, workshops of Christmas decorations, socks and cards, Christmas cookies masterclass, muffins, sweets and rolls of mistela, painting, light ornaments, pintacaras, balloon twisting have been organized , puzzles, tree plantations, etc.

Children's activities and family workshops around the Tree will take place from Wednesday, December 6 until January 5, in the morning and afternoon.

Children's New Year's Eve will be on Sunday the 31st and the Drilo show at Christmas will be performed on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of January in the afternoon.

Audiovisual shows will be daily, from December 6 to 21 at 8:00 pm, and from December 22 to January 6 there will be two passes: at 8:00 pm and at 9:30 pm.

There will also be a Paje Real Solidarity Point in which all children who wish may donate their toys for other small towns enjoy.

In return they will receive doubloons of chocolate.

Tree concert schedule

There will be a total of 17 concerts of different styles: floklore Murcia, opera, gospel, traditional Christmas carols, classical music, electronics, etc.

In addition, this year there will be a Christmas dance gala by the Conservatory of Dance of Murcia.

Hundreds of events in neighborhoods and districts

Parallel to the programming of the Circular Tree, the neighborhoods of the city and the set of districts will host hundreds of activities that will be presented in the coming days.

There will be nativity scenes, living births, trees, ice rink, exhibitions, theater, fairs, Christmas workshops, music, sports, animations, storytelling, crafts, magic, dance, shows and markets, cinema, concerts, etc.

Highlights the two major children's events of the festivities: the arrival of Santa Claus on the 22nd, which this year arrives with surprise, and the Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos on January 5.
