Open the call for the 1st edition of the OFP training program, promoted by EXPAL and the City of Murcia to facilitate employment in the municipality (30/11/2017)

The program is specially directed unemployed with academic training in the science branch, training them as operators of manufacturing propellants, a technology considered strategic by the most advanced countries in the world.

At least 60% of the people who successfully complete the training will be incorporated for a minimum of 6 months into the staff of the EXPAL factory in Javalí Viejo

The Murcia City Council, in collaboration with the Regional Employment Service, and EXPAL, MAXAM's defense business unit, have announced the opening of the registration period for the 1st Edition of the Training Program for Operators of Propellants (OFP), that they organize together with the purpose of facilitating the labor insertion in the municipality.

The program is aimed especially at unemployed women and young people who - from today and until next December 29 - may submit their application through the employment portal of the City of Murcia.

The people selected to participate in the program will receive a theoretical-practical training of 700 hours, which will start in January 2018 and which trains them as operators of propellants manufacturing.

The propellers - with applications in both the civil and defense sectors - are a technology considered strategic by the most advanced countries in the world.

EXPAL has acquired a commitment to hire at least 60% of the people who pass the training process, who - after the final selection tests - would join the staff of the plant in Javalí Viejo.

The contracts that are made will be at least half a day and of a duration of not less than 6 months.

"People who successfully complete the training will have the opportunity to join the staff of MAXAM, a global technology company specializing in the development and manufacture of energy materials, with subsidiaries in more than 50 countries and with more than 6,500 employees. all over the world ", explains Pedro López, director of the EXPAL plant in Murcia.

The Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco, explained that "the objectives of this program are the employment of unemployed workers and their training to train them in achieving the necessary training adapted to the job demanded by EXPAL , in addition to offering them a non-formal education (social skills, health education, values, job training, use of information and communication technologies ...), which serves as personal development to function in the social environment and labor"

The OFP training program covers product manufacturing processes and training in occupational risk prevention, environmental management, quality control and professional ethics.

The practical modules will be taught in the facilities of the plant: some historical facilities -the original factory dates back to 1633- but have undergone a profound process of technological renovation in recent years, to become one of the production centers of the most leading propellants in Europe.

The EXPAL plant in Javalí Viejo develops and manufactures energetic material and propellants for civil and military use.

Since 2010, when it assumed the management of the factory, the company has invested in these facilities more than € 10 million to include substantial improvements such as new production lines, new methodologies and manufacturing processes and a unique Technological Center of Propellants in the south of Europe.
