The Plenary approves an institutional declaration to initiate the file so that 'Patiño's balls' are declared of Regional Tourist Interest (30/11/2017)

The municipal Plenary has approved an institutional declaration to initiate the file so that the Encuentro de Cuadrillas, better known as 'Las pelotas de Patiño', will be declared of Regional Tourist Interest.

According to the statement, this event, which is held every January, "is every year better welcomed by the people of the entire Region who flock to this celebration where the folklore of Murcia is displayed in its different variations according to the place of belonging to each gang. "

What is intended is "to achieve greater external promotion and increase even more the reception of this party".

"On January 8, 1989, the First Gang Meeting was held, the traditional event of the Christmas days commemorated on the Sunday after Reyes thanks to the organizing work carried out by La Huez, La Hijuela, and its director Manuel Cárceles Caballero "El Patiñero", who had the strength to coordinate the teams that that cold morning in January gathered in the plaza of the church: Zarzadilla de Totana, Fuente Álamo, Aledo, Las Palas, Raiguero de Totana, Vélez Rubio, Peña "La Seda" and Cuadrilla de Patiño ", recalls the text approved unanimously.
