The INFORMAJOVEN Center of the City of Murcia celebrates 35 years serving the young people of the municipality.

Throughout these years, hundreds of thousands have been young people who have visited the headquarters and who have used the resources on the web, or have made very different consultations through various online media.

The Councilor for Youth and Development Cooperation of the City of Murcia, Rebeca Perez, has been present at the event in which has taken stock of these years.

Open to the public in March 1982 and inaugurated in June of the same year, it was the first Municipal Information Center of a municipal nature that was created in Spain and in its first year of life it had the direct cooperation of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia in its management and implementation.

Its conception and structure have served as a model or reference for the majority of CIJ at a local level in Spain.

An evolution that has adapted to new technologies and new forms of communication for young people by incorporating into their contact channels the WhatsApp and the Telegram that allow to receive directly on the mobile all the information related to calls for scholarships, jobs, courses, competitions, grants, conferences and cultural activities.

Balance

The work of Informajoven could be summarized in providing a Customer Service, through personal reception at the Center's headquarters, by correspondence or by telephone or e-mail.

Through a personalized listening to the user, it is intended to offer a plural, dynamic and relevant information of a non-discriminatory nature.

In addition, part of the information generated or transmitted from the CIJ is disseminated through a network of decentralized youth information points in different areas of the municipality (currently more than 80) whose information and graphic material is renewed weekly.

On the other hand, we have as a regular means of information dissemination, the edition of the Bulletin "INFORMAJOVEN" in which all the specific information received with a minimum validity of up to the fortnight following its publication is collected, along with the dissemination of graphic material and reproduction of selected news.

To this is added Psychosocial counseling for young people that is defined as a free public service, aimed primarily at young people between the ages of 16 and 30, with the mission of spreading and guiding young people in psychosocial, psycho-emotional and sexual matters. .

It is a free, anonymous and confidential service, through personal attention - at the headquarters of the Informajoven Center - by telephone, postcard or by email.

And it offers talks and training sessions to associations and educational centers that request it.

The Academic Labor Orientation Service for young people is a free service that can be accessed in person or virtually.

A service in which we will try to answer all your doubts in academic matters, professional training, training for employment, career guidance, job search techniques, development of personal skills and professional skills, internships in companies, professional opportunities, Youth Guarantee , etc.

In addition, the Informajoven Center is the local position EURODESK in the city of Murcia, through which, in addition to informing and guiding young people about the resources offered for mobility in Europe, it also offers information on Murcia resources to all queries which are received by young Europeans interested in our city, and who are channeled through the EURODESK Network of European cities.

All this has meant that during all this time the Center's headquarters has become a benchmark.

The impact of ICT and Internet access to the information we provide has meant that we have gone from a very high number of in-person visits to the center of our center in 2005, with approximately 60,000 visits (in the previous site in the Calle Balsas), until the current year in which the number of visitors to the Informajoven Center varies between 18,000 and 19,000 visits per year.

The estimate of the number of visitors received at the headquarters of the Informajoven Center is more than one million over these 35 years of history.

In general, throughout these 35 years, the Education, Work and Free Time Areas have been the most demanded, as has been usual for many years, followed by the Health, Society and Rights Areas (p. eg housing) but there have been certain increases in recent years in the content area of Youth Programs, and Participation, especially in Volunteering and European programs.

Among the most prominent contents highlight educational, labor, cultural, leisure time and tourism, sports, on European and Youth Programs, Society, Health, Participation, Public Administration or Rights and Duties.

The estimate of published or disseminated Calls to young people of Murcia from the Informajoven Center over these 35 years of life is estimated at more than 30,000.
