Day of Open Doors 'UCAM Teleco Day' (27/11/2017)

Around two hundred students of ESO, Bachelor and Vocational Training from various places in the region have participated in the event organized by the Degree in Engineering of the Telecommunication System of the UCAM

The Campus of the Jerónimos of the Catholic University of Murcia has hosted this morning the Day of Open Doors 'UCAM Teleco Day'.

An event that has served to raise awareness among students of the importance of technological engineering degrees and above all so that "they lose this fear of this engineering and that many students are scared when talking about Teleco" as Rafael has pointed out Melendreras, vice-dean of the Degree in Telecommunications Systems Engineering.

Several speakers at the opening ceremony included Juan José Almela Martínez, general director of IT, Heritage and Telecommunications at CARM;

José Javier Medina Muñoz, dean of the Official College of Technical Telecommunications Engineers (COGITT);

Rafael Melendreras Ruiz, vice-dean of the Degree in Telecommunication Systems Engineering;

and Teodoro García Egea, telecommunications engineer and national deputy.

Each of the participants has reflected on different degrees but all have a common front: to bring young people to the technologies.

Among the topics discussed in this conference, the benefits of the Telecommunications Engineering career have been highlighted, as Rafael Melendreras has pointed out: "In the degree course you do practical work and you relate to technologies that are not yet on the market and that is someone who likes technology is an incredible incentive. "

On the other hand, the high employability generated by these degrees is also a key factor: "We are hiring more than twenty people per month, so it is essential to encourage young people to take these careers" said José Antonio Bermúdez, director of Everis Murcia.

"They are difficult races, but then they have their reward." Choosing where you want to work is very important "said the professor and member of the Official College of Technical Engineers and Graduates of the Region of Murcia, Josefina Jiménez García.

For these reasons around two hundred students of ESO, Bachiller and Vocational Training have come to the Catholic University of Murcia from different points of the Region of Murcia (Fuente Alamo, La Union, Molina de Segura, Cartagena and Murcia) to enjoy this working day.

Attendees have been able to participate in various activities related to new technologies such as 3D printing, virtual reality or the UCAM Racing Team, ecological car team of the Catholic University that competes every year at the Shell Eco Marathon in Rotterdam (Netherlands) ).
