The elimination of 'stumps' will allow the planting of more than a hundred new trees (26/11/2017)

The Park and Gardens Service, under the Department of Modernization of the Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, directed by José Guillén, is working on the elimination of more than a hundred 'stumps' to plant new trees.

The stump machine allows not to damage the surrounding areas of old specimens by eliminating the old root system to plant a new specimen that grows without any problem.

"This method consists of removing the old remains of existing trunks by eliminating the root system of the old specimens, in this way what is achieved is that the new hole left is appropriate and allows the new specimens to grow in conditions", explains the mayor of Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén.

But besides not damaging the areas surrounding the specimen, no basic service that could be close to the ancient roots of the specimen is affected.

These works, which will be developed in more than a hundred old trunks, are carried out by a team of two people for approximately three weeks.

In addition, once the remains are removed, the space that previously covered the copy is completed with fertile land.

This campaign is the previous step to carry out the traditional planting of new trees in the municipality of Murcia and that is marked by the arrival of autumn and the drop in temperatures.
