The Family Protection Team of the Local Police and the association Avanza sin Fear, awards'Murcia en Igualdad' (24/11/2017)

José Ballesta highlights "the work of this specialized team of women of the Local Police, founded in 2009, who are the first to attend the call of the victims" and "the visibility and protection of children" of the association Avanza sin Miedo .

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the students of the Cesur Center have performed a musical performance in which they have raised their voices against abuse.

They have also been distinguished students from different Murcian institutes that have participated in the activity 'Lemes against gender violence'.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the City of Murcia has delivered today Murcia Murcia in Equality 2017, which have fallen to the Family Protection and Support Team of the Local Police of the Consistory and in the association Avanza sin Fear.

"Today is a day of remembrance, vindication, reflection and recognition," said José Ballesta in the institutional act, held in the Plenary Hall.

The mayor highlighted "the work of the specialized team of women of the Local Police, founded in 2009, who are the first to attend the call of the victims and provide assistance, guidance and support" and has recognized the trajectory of Avanza without Fear , an association focused on "the visibility and protection of minors victims of gender violence".

The event was attended by representatives of all municipal groups and the council of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, who has read the Declaration of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) for the elimination of violence against women and has underlined "the need to continue promoting measures for the prevention and sensitization of the whole society".

Victim support 365 days

The City Council works 365 days a year to combat gender violence and provide comprehensive care to women and children who suffer it, through different axes: intensifying awareness and awareness measures, paying special attention to involve young people and to associations, and, of course, with support for victims.

The Family Protection and Attention Team of the Local Police works in collaboration with the EMAVI, the Municipal Team for Attention to Gender Violence of the City of Murcia, which, up to now, has treated a total of 259 cases of gender violence in the municipality.

The EMAVI provide integral assistance to the victims to guide them and support them in the process of overcoming this situation.

It has two shelters and a sheltered apartment, and a team consisting of a legal counselor, psychologist, four social educators and a social worker.

Musical performances and performances against abuse

During the ceremony, José Ballesta has also handed out the diplomas to students from different Murcian institutes that have participated in the activity 'Lemes against gender violence', exhibited at Avenida Alfonso X El Sabio.

There have also been musical performances and performances by the students of the Cesur Center and the violinist Rezart Kapetani, professor at the Narciso Yepes Conservatory in Lorca.
