"Universities must anticipate the needs of the company by encouraging critical and creative talent" (24/11/2017)

The founder of IT & IS and former rector of the University of Alicante, Andrés Pedreño, participated in the University and Business Leadership Conference, organized by the Technological Institute of the UCAM.

Pedreño ensures that the classroom must reinvent itself by encouraging teamwork, the critical and creative spirit, always relying on new technologies.

The meeting University and Leadership met yesterday to entrepreneurs from different productive sectors throughout the region at the Catholic University, to attend the presentation of Andrés Pedreño, former rector of the University of Alicante, "Leadership for innovation in the era of transformation digital "in which he explained the need of the current company to innovate and adapt to new technologies to survive.

Pedreño has been named, recently a member of the Group of Sages on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data and whose conclusions will be reflected in the White Paper on Artificial Intelligence.

"Education, like the company, must have a mentality in which technology allows the connection between all disciplines, law, economics, biology and even engineering, from this perspective it becomes a fundamental strategy that promotes the talent and the development of the digital economy, "said Pedreño.

For the co-founder of IT & IS, the fourth group in Spain in web traffic, "Universities should be productive and anticipate the needs of companies, fundamentally those that generate added value." This is a great challenge that must begin in the classroom, where we can repeat what is in a video or say a Nobel prize, on the contrary, we must encourage teamwork, generating creative students with a critical capacity, and technology is the most useful means to achieve that reinvention of the classrooms.

Pedreño is convinced that in a few years, medicine will not look anything like the one we know today, since it will be a personalized medicine thanks to new technologies, something that, he says, must also happen to education.

"Universities must know their students very well, anticipate their problems, advise them in their studies and in this way generate large success quotas among students, who will be the entrepreneurs of tomorrow, entrepreneurs who should be the best not to be at a disadvantage with other countries, "stressed the speaker.

This edition of University and Business Leadership, organized by the Technological Institute of the Catholic University, brought together entrepreneurs from Banco Sabadell, AENOR, the Real Estate Group Inmopolt, Packaging and Chemical Products Francisco Aragón, Suez energy group, distributor of Gas Natural Levante Redexis, Secom Lighting, Cope Chain, Association of Young Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia, Hyperbaric Society Development and Research, Caliche Group of logistics, Transport and Telecommunications and the software developer Capgemini.
