El Jardín del Salitre will offer an itinerary of auditory stimulation for children (24/11/2017)

The Governing Board has approved the Action Plan of the project 'Auditory stimulation itinerary of the Salitre Garden' and the application for subsidy to the Ministry of Presidency and Development of the Autonomous Community.

The aim is to establish an accessible itinerary in this green space that fulfills auditory sensory stimulation functions.

To do this, game elements will be installed that allow interaction with the child where they, with or without disabilities, can share activities and experience new sensations.

The itinerary will begin at the entrance to the garden by Pasos de Santiago where a sign will be installed indicating the performance that will contain Braille characters and will redirect by means of QR codes to explanatory audios.

Throughout the tour will be installed tubofones, drawers, tubes and musical cylinders, metal drums and a sound labyrinth.

The Salitre Garden in Murcia is as much for its location in the downtown area of the city as for its size of 27,752 m², a park that has been visited by the population since its inauguration in 1994, taking advantage of the grounds of the old Salitres or Powder Factory. .

This garden has important arboreal specimens and the most varied collection of different palm trees in the municipality.

Simultaneously, a large number of bushes and plants offer a different color, textures, shapes and smells.

Since its design and construction a great deal of attention has been devoted to promoting accessibility in the park, an initiative that continues to be developed.

Proof of this is the recent completion of the area next to the Bullfighting Museum that allows the uninterrupted continuation of accessible itineraries from Barrio de San Antón to Pasos de Santiago.

An accessible ramp is also currently being built in the northeast corner of the garden.

The contribution of sensory stimuli offered by the garden to the population has been widely studied, recently devoting much attention to its role as support in educational-rehabilitation treatments applied to children who show some kind of sensory and cognitive disabilities, motor and any other sign in order to achieve improvements in its evolutionary development.

The execution period is set at one month and the investment amounts to 73,326 euros.
