The Transportation Board of the City of Murcia works on the improvement of different intercity bus lines (22/11/2017)

The Councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, chaired this morning a new meeting of the Public Transport Bureau of the City of Murcia which has been attended by the General Director of Transportation of the Autonomous Community, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, and representatives of the municipal political groups and the main concession companies (Transportes de Murcia, Latbus and Travía de Murcia).

Also present were representatives of the Federation of Trade Associations, the most representative consumer association in the municipality, the Municipal Bicycle Observatory, Ecologists in Action and the company committees of public transport service concessionaires.

At the meeting progress was made in the Study of the Regional Master Plan and several improvements on bus lines have been put on the table.

Thus, the City Council has proposed the improvement of line 1 (San Ginés-Municipal Stadium Nueva Condomina), 7 (La Albatalía-Murcia-La Arboleja), 30 (Los Ramos-Murcia) and 91 (Sangonera la Seca-Javalí Nuevo- Murcia), whose concession is of the Autonomous Community.

To this end, the City Council will submit a request to the General Directorate of Transport, as was done with lines 30 and 78, which will be responsible for authorizing these improvements that will be financed by the municipal budgets.

Councilman Roque Ortiz thanked the various proposals made by the municipal political groups, "and, especially, those of the Municipal Socialist Group for their support to the municipal budgets that have led to these changes."

Likewise, work has been done on the study of the bus lines affected by the burial of the train tracks that would come into operation next spring.

The Transportation Board intends that the most representative organizations, entities and agents in the field of transport in the city of Murcia raise the issues of mobility and analyze and promote initiatives to promote the use of sustainable public transport.

This Bureau is responsible for determining the principles, strategic lines and objectives of urban transport in the municipality, integrating sustainable public transport policies in territorial planning and raising awareness among citizens to consider their use as a social good.

In addition, it seeks to improve coordination with the Regional Administration and other local entities in the area of ​​influence and also get cooperation with social partners, economic and user associations.
