The facade of the Moneo is now lit in blue on the occasion of Universal Children's Day (20/11/2017)

The façade of the building attached to the City Council is dyed blue today on the occasion of the celebration of Universal Children's Day.

A measure taken by the City of Murcia at the request of the Department of Public Works and in collaboration with the Department of Social Rights Conchita Ruiz directs and which responds to the request of UNICEF to give visibility to this day.

"We are talking about a special day, a day to draw attention to the situation of the most disadvantaged children, publicize the rights of children and raise awareness of the importance of working every day for their well-being and development," explained the councilor.

It is necessary to remember that last November Unicef granted Murcia the stamp of 'Ciudad Amiga de la Infancia', which recognizes the development of municipal policies that seek to improve the quality of life of children and the defense of their rights.

Since then, the Department of Social Rights has launched the Table of Participation of Children and Adolescents, which gives voice to the children of the municipality and collects and channels their proposals to improve Murcia, meeting one of the requirements set by Unicef to obtain the stamp of 'Child Friendly City'.

"From the City Council we are working on the first Municipal Plan for Children that will include contributions from all the Councils, making childhood a transversal and priority element of government action", explained Conchita Ruiz, who added that "the defense of the rights of the smallest, especially, of the most vulnerable is an imperative for public administrations ".
