The Municipal Service of Social Services, with the purpose of favoring the full school integration of the socially disadvantaged children of the municipality, in situation of vulnerability or social exclusion, carries out a series of complementary actions that guarantee the coverage of the most basic needs, food, transportation and schooling.
These include aid to schooling of children of ethnic minorities, with problems of school integration, which have been approved by the Governing Board of the City of Murcia.
In this way, "the necessary means are provided so that these minors are on equal terms with the rest, as stated in strategic line 2 and 5 of the Municipal Program for Children and Adolescents approved by the Government March 2012, and extended by the Government Board on June 16, 2016, "explained Conchita Ruiz.
The total proposed school meals, complementary to those granted by the Ministry of Education, for the first quarter of the school year 2017-2018, will benefit 548 children, enrolled in 84 schools in the municipality, with the total amount of aid granted of € 125,396.36.
For this, the Councilor for Social Rights has highlighted, "the Municipal Social Services Centers make the proposals of those children who need this special support, based on the knowledge of the families and the socio-educational intervention carried out with them, such as measure of reinforcement and preventive, seeking at all times the improvement of the social and educational conditions of minors. "
