The National Band Competition returns to the Teatro Romea next weekend (14/11/2017)

The Romea Theater will host on November 18 and 19 the XXVII National Contest of Music Bands, organized by the Department of Employment, Tourism and Culture and the Federation of Music Bands of the Region of Murcia and with the collaboration of Estrella de Levante .

Access is free with invitation to be collected at the box office of the Romea Theater, from November 17, at the box office with a maximum of two invitations per person.

Before the access of the bands of music to the Romea Theater they will realize a parade from the Belluga place to the Romea theater

On the first day, bands of music registered in the First Section will perform (from 71 to 95 musicians, including the maximum collaboration of seven other performers, and the maximum number of stringed instruments in the band's staff will be nine) while the 19 In November, it will be the turn of the bands enrolled in the Third Section (composed of up to 55 musicians, including the maximum collaboration of five other performers, and the maximum number of stringed instruments in the band's staff will be seven).

In this way it seeks to "strengthen and promote the musical artistic values ​​and culture." From the City Council throughout the year we conducted various municipal programs for the bands, such as this same event, the signing of agreements with associations musicals of our municipality, as well as the concerts that are being made in the streets and squares of our city, "Councilor Jesús Pacheco pointed.

Thus, the objective is the promotion of culture in the municipality, the creation of a cultural and leisure offer, the promotion and support of associations in our municipality and the offer to bands of music a framework in which to show their work to the time they serve as immediate objectives and encouragement for day to day, both musicians and directors and directives.

"The contest is one of the most important in Spain due to the rigor and seriousness of the work developed in the technical organization, typical of the Federation of Music Bands of the Region of Murcia, as well as due to the presence each year of a jury that enjoys a very high musical level, in all its aspects: technical, theoretical, pedagogical, direction, concert, composition ... ", explained the councilor.

Each member of the jury may grant from 0 to 10 points, admitting fractions of half a point, for each one of the following concepts: tuning, sound, interpretation and technique to each one of the acting bands both for the obligatory work, as for the one of free choice

The total score will be the result of the sum of the partial ones in each one of the interpreted works, determining the corresponding prizes.

Most of the total of the economic budget of the contest arrives in a direct way to the different music bands that participate, since they are given an economic amount of help to participate in the contest (1,200 euros to each one of the participating bands in Section One and 1,050, to Section Three) and for obtaining prizes:

First Section:

1st Prize .............................................. 2,000, € 00

2nd Prize .............................................. 1,600, € 00

Third Section:

1st Prize .............................................. 1,550, € 00

2nd Prize .............................................. 1,250, € 00

3rd Prize .............................................. 1.050, € 00

Thus, on Saturday, November 18, at 6:00 pm, the First Section of the Unió Musical de Montserrat de Sociedades Instructive Societies of Valencia will perform, under the direction of Manuel Godoy and the Beniaján Musical Group, directed by Mario Ortuño.

The work of obligatory interpretation will be Echo of the mountain of Ferrer Ferrán

On Sunday, November 19, at 6:00 pm, it will be the turn of the Third Section of the Santa Cecilia de Abarán Music Group, under the direction of Leonardo David Carrasco;

the AMC Music Band of Puertollano (Ciudad Real) with José Manuel García Pozuelo as director and the Cultural Association Níjar (Almería), directed by José Mateo Alcaraz.

These sets will have to interpret Suite No. 1 in Mib by Gustav Holst.

The members of the jury will be Carlos Diéguez, president of the National Association of Band Directors and associate director of the WASBE (World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles);

Keith Allen, musical director of Birmingham Symphonic Winds, Director of the National Concert Band Festival, director of Solihull Youth Wind Orchestra and member of the Advisory Council of the London International Music Festival;

Raúl López, winner of the 1st Course-Orchestra Conducting Contest organized by the Orfeón Murciano Fernández Caballero
