The Silk Garden will host on Sunday 19 the 'Children's Party' with workshops, performances, sports activities and the participation of about 30 associations (13/11/2017)

The Department of Social Rights presents a complete calendar of activities with which, until Monday 20, is intended to promote the protection and social promotion of children, as well as their participation in the development of society The Plenary Hall of the City of Murcia will hold on Monday 20 a Children's Plenary with the participation of elementary students from five schools

Awareness of children's rights is one of the strategies that the Council of Social Rights of the City of Murcia carries out in order to help improve the care, protection and social promotion of children in the municipality, encouraging reflection on the participation of children in all those areas in which their lives develop.

That is why the City of Murcia obtained a year ago the qualification of Child Friendly City granted by Unicef, recognition that has led him to assume various commitments in favor of children.

One of them has been the constitution of the Municipal Board for Children's Participation composed of girls and boys between 9 and 17 years of age, who meet periodically to discuss and propose actions that concern them in matters of education, health, leisure, etc. .

For this reason, this year the theme of the Week of the Rights of the Child and the Girl is developed around the theme of participation one of the rights contained in the Convention on the Rights of the Child promulgated by the UN General Assembly on November 20, 1989.

Councilor Conchita Ruiz has presented this morning the calendar of activities that from Tuesday 14 to Monday 20 will be carried out in the municipality and will have the great children's party on Sunday 19 as the most vindicating event in defense of the children's rights.

During this day, which will take place in the Silk Garden from 11 am to 2 pm, various workshops organized by Children's associations that collaborate in the Week will be developed, a climbing wall will be installed so that the most daring begin in the adventure of climbing and there will be a stage with animation and various performances by minors from associations.

"This year we continue to strengthen some of the activities we have been doing since previous years as a children's party, theater for children, adult and children's cinema, information point in Santo Domingo and as a novelty we present four decentralized points of community character, which will make some associations and entities with the support of the Department ", explained the councilor.

Likewise, decentralized activities will be carried out in neighborhoods and districts carried out by the childhood and adolescence projects, such as: community puzzles, role-playing, murals, activities to grow in values, viewing animated short films about children's rights, workshops crafts, etc.

Activities Calendar

From November 14 to 20, information points will be installed in the Jardín de Floridablanca from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, the 14th, at the Palm Garden of La Paz / Vistabella, on Wednesday the 15th, at the Monteazahar Garden of Beniajan, on Thursday 16, in Zarandona, on Friday 17 and in the Plaza of the University of Murcia on Saturday 18 and Monday 20. All of them will be organized by associations and will have participatory workshops, exhibition of works, informative talks or samples of games .

As for the cinema, on Wednesday the 15th the children's film "Mi vecino Totoro" will be screened at 4:30 p.m. at the Regional Film Archive.

One day later, at 8:30 p.m., it will be the turn of "Where is the House of my Friend".

With respect to the theater this year the Auditorium of La Alberca will become on Friday 17 on stage for the play "The Little Prince", while Monday 20, at 10 am in the Plenary Hall of the Hon.

Murcia City Council, and organized by the Department of Education, Relations with the University and Heritage, a Children's Plenary will be held with participants of primary school students of the CEPS Ntra Sra de Atocha, Nra Sra del Rosario de Puente Bacons, Ntra Sra de la Consolation of Espinardo and Ciprano Galea de la Ñora.

Dissemination and collaborating entities

In order to sensitize the population about the Rights of Children, different diptychs and informative programs will be distributed throughout the week in the different points of dissemination.

Of this form, they emphasize the calendar of activities to realize between the 14 and 20 November, information on the Right to the infantile Participation or the polydiphics on the Convention of the Rights of the Childhood, for boys and girls between 8 and 13 years , on positive parenting, good treatment in family education, aimed at parents, or "Help our children in their learning", with basic notions so that parents can help in their studies.
