Change Murcia advocates to promote an alternative government in the debate on the state of the municipality (10/11/2017)

The spokesman of the municipal group of Cambiemos Murcia, Nacho Tornel, has today advocated during his speech in the debate on the state of the municipality by an alternative government to the Popular Party in the City of the capital.

"There is nothing that prevents forming, we have the support of citizens," said Tornel, who has considered that the mayor, José Ballesta, "has been wrong debate" because his exhibition "does not fit the reality of Murcia "

The mayor of the municipal training has criticized the government team that their policies contribute to strengthening the separation "of the suburb and the city" as in the Murcia of the twelfth century, where the territory was divided between "the expelled and the privileged."

Thus, he made reference to the differences between the investments of the center of the municipality, with projects such as the remodeling of Alfonso X el Sabio, which will receive six million euros, and those destined to neighborhoods, almost nonexistent.

This makes Murcia a city "without a sense of equity, without equal opportunities", which adds to other negative events such as the absence of planning, the priority to solve the immediate versus the essentials and privatizations.

In terms of communications, Tornel has criticized the difficulties related to the connections, citing the paralysis of the Costera, the lack of implementation of the renewal of access by Ronda Norte or the lack of commitment to improving the commuter train.

In this regard, he has made special mention of the burial and "years of deception" of the PP, which "tries to demonize the Platform" that is fighting for the AVE not to arrive on the surface, in what refers to this work foreseen in the 2006 agreement.

Regarding mobility by bicycle, he commented that it is "the story of a frustration", with a policy that forgets this means of transport by not taking into account the design of infrastructures to facilitate its use and ensure safety.

Another issue that has received the criticism of Cambiemos Murcia has been the Government's cultural policy.

"The reality is devastating," said Tornel, after which he has denounced the dismissals and non-payments to workers of these services.

"It is embarrassing to talk about the situation of the Ramón Gaya Museum, the City Museum, the visitor center of San Cayetano, the mountain classroom of La Luz and the hermitage of San Antonio el Pobre, or the Museum of Science."

He also referred to the situation of Emuasa, which "continues without control" by the Consistory despite being mostly municipal and generate 5 million annual profits "at the expense of making citizens pay the most expensive water in the country".

Municipal boards: same budget

Tornel has highlighted the positive effects that the "change of political sign" has produced in some municipal councils, in favor of transparency, plurality, collective work and participation.

However, it has criticized the local government that in the 2017 budget the amount allocated to the meetings is similar to that of the previous year and that it still does not reform the Regulations for Citizen Participation, as well as without promoting clear distribution criteria.

In the case of the neighborhoods, the municipal policy for the distribution is "at the service of the social class with the greatest purchasing power", always for the benefit of the center and to the detriment of neighborhoods such as La Paz or El Carmen, in need of investments.

Equality has also had a place in Tornel's speech, especially gender violence and the absence of real commitment, of economic and human resources, to fight against it and guarantee the implementation of the Municipal Equality Plan.

"We also continue to hope for the creation of the Local Council on Immigration and Interculturality, a motion passed in March to give prominence to the diversity of nationalities that coexist in our municipality," said Tornel, after criticizing the existence of Foreigners' Detention Centers.

The garden: far from protecting and conserving

Regarding the garden, the mayor of Cambiemos Murcia has insisted that "has gradually been degraded and becoming a large site where speculation and urban disorder have rocked at ease," with a PGOU "disproportionate that only try to satisfy real estate greed. "

Thus, he stressed that "many huertanos and huertanas still unfairly paying an urban IBI for rustic lands, the historic irrigation network remains unprotected and abandoned to its fate, without rules or good management to help its maintenance and conservation."

In addition, he recalled that they have spent more than two years in office until the approval of an ordinance of animal ownership and human coexistence.

"It is a pending issue to guarantee the rights of animals," said Tornel.
