The Murcia City Council leads the drafting of what will be the first "International Manual of Intelligent Planning of Public Space" (09/11/2017)

The Councilor for the Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, on behalf of the City Council, has participated in the working meeting of the URBELAC International Urban Network and Latin American and Caribbean Cities, leading the writing of what will be the first International Manual of Intelligent Planning of Public Space.

The transnational work group is developing a standard guide, with the contributions, know-how and good practices of the network of cities comprising Milan, Buenos Aires, Bordeaux, Athens, Montevideo, Guadalajara, Campo Grande, Viseu and Murcia, these nine large cities work together and as a central theme the Integrated and Sustainable Urban Development.

This practical manual of organization of public space, aims to solve the common challenges of construction, maintenance, integration and urban development to which nowadays any city in the world faces, collecting processes, good practices, distribution, legislation, and work philosophies of the nine cities, with the intention of serving as a practical example for any locality.

The content of the manual covers the management of municipal projects on public roads aimed at improving the quality of life of people through the improvement of urban quality, considering functional, environmental and landscape aspects.

It is expected that the manual will be widely disseminated in international networks due to the interest of the European Union's urban development agenda and in Latin American organizations and the innovative nature of this collaborative project between both continents.

URBELAC, the Network of European, Latin American and Caribbean Cities, is funded directly by the European Union and the Inter-American Development Bank, and celebrates its transnational meeting in Guadalajara, Mexico this week.

In the network, which emphasizes collaboration between cities to address common challenges and challenges, the participating municipalities present a series of projects and initiatives to face the difficulties of the urban context and sustainable development in cities subject to continuous growth.
