The Contracting Committee examines the 30 offers submitted to carry out the works of the first phase of pedestrianization of Alfonso X el Sabio Avenue (07/11/2017)

The Contracting Committee, chaired by the Councilor for Finance and Contracting, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva and attended by representatives of municipal political groups, has opened the study of the assessment of technical and economic proposals of the 30 technical offers presented for the pedestrianization project of Alfonso X Avenue in its first phase, from Plaza Santo Domingo to Jaime I Avenue.

One of the 30 companies has presented reckless low so now you will have to make a report to justify your economic proposal.

This new step will allow that, according to the forecasts, the works begin after Christmas with a maximum budget of 3,199,312 euros.

The works of this first phase, will be executed in three sequential times: west road (Santa Clara), east road (Santa Ana) and central walkway, allowing in this way that there are always two areas available for pedestrian and road traffic.

This project will allow the incorporation of more than 14,000 square meters of new pedestrian surface, providing linearity to the entire walk from Santo Domingo to the Plaza Circular.

The action will be carried out in two stages: Phase I, which is the one that has already been tendered, and which comprises from Santo Domingo to Jaime I (with an area of 7,600 m2), and Phase II (6,800 m2), from Jaime I to La Circular.

In this way, a huge pedestrian itinerary of about 50,000 square meters will be created in the historic center of the city from La Glorieta to the Plaza Circular, going through Plaza Belluga, Trapería, Santo Domingo and Alfonso X.

This initiative will allow Alfonso X Avenue a total semi-pedestrianization of space that restricts vehicular traffic to residents, public transportation (taxis), school zone and loading-unloading in regulated hours, circulating in a single direction towards Santo Domingo by the west road , the existing one next to the church of Las Claras.

On the other hand, the economic proposals for the reinforcement and lighting improvement works have been opened in the San Ginés Industrial Estate.

Of the 20 tenderers presented, three have not been admitted due to errors or lack of documentation of the offer.

The proposal consists of the replacement of 377 sodium vapor luminaires with LED technology, replacing and repairing the columns that are in poor condition.

Likewise, 13 points of the polygon's garden area, 23 metal poles and five remote control centers will be replaced, and different channels and manholes will be repaired.

This eliminates the current installation that is around forty years old, so it has a very low light output and produces, by its configuration, great light pollution and high energy consumption.

In addition some staffs are very deteriorated.
