Cooperation contributes more than 30,000 euros to the reconstruction of the Education Unit Concepción Temboury of Ecuador (06/11/2017)

The Department of Youth and Development Cooperation of the City of Murcia, directed by Rebeca Pérez, contributes to the development of the project promoted by the Entreculturas-Fe y Alegría Foundation in Ecuador for the reconstruction and reinforcement of the infrastructure of the Concepción Temboury Educational Unit.

Located in the community of Peñas, it is a very damaged town after the earthquake that occurred in April 2016.

"It should be noted that there are more than 350 beneficiaries of this project, mostly women, which is being carried out in 2017. To date, part of the reconstruction and reinforcement activities of the Concepción Educational Unit have been carried out Temboury: Walls have been rebuilt, the existing structure has been strengthened, patios repaved and repaired recreational spaces and children's games ", pointed out the councilor.

To this end, Youth and Development Cooperation contributes 31,884 euros, which has already allowed the improvement of structures, walls, doors, windows, water and electricity installations, as well as the patio and green spaces of the Concepción Educativa Temboury.

Added to this are the 3 workshops on the main social problems in the area, the awareness campaigns to promote the right to education, and the promotion of equitable participation in the recreational, cultural and artistic activities carried out.

Fundación Entreculturas - Fe y Alegría is a development NGO of the Society of Jesus, which works as a transformation network for social change through education.

It has a presence in Ecuador since 1998, in which several projects were started with Fe y Alegría Ecuador to build educational infrastructure in different regions of the country.

Both work in 14 provinces of the country (Pichincha, Francisco Orellana, Guayas, Santa Elena, El Oro, Manabí, Imbabura, Esmeraldas, Carchi, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Los Ríos, Tungurahua, Chimborazo and Azuay).

In these provinces, Fe y Alegría Ecuador is present in 68 educational centers, 3 job training centers, 2 mobile schools, 2 educational residences and 1 solidary center.

But in addition, this project allows psychological support, individual and group of students and their families and teachers of that school that suffered the emotional impact of the earthquake.

All with the following purposes:

1. Assess the emotional state of the students and their grieving process.

2. Strengthen the capacity of resilience of the educational community, helping to acquire skills to face difficulties, well past or those that may occur in the future.

3. Offer an emotional discharge to the teachers and other staff of the educational centers.

4. Support families in the natural response they had after the earthquake to protect and provide security for their children.
