The Municipal Archive will have a modern system to ensure the protection of its valuable documents and publications (03/11/2017)

The Governing Board has given its approval to the specifications for contracting the works for the new installation and renovation of the fire and security systems of the Municipal Archive, both in the Almudí Palace and in the El Mayayo Estate.

This is intended to protect the valuable historical and cultural heritage guarded in these facilities.

Thus, several actions aimed at normalizing the anti-intrusion and fire fighting systems will be carried out, since it is of the utmost importance that all the Murcia City Council's documentary production since its founding in these archives be protected from both incidents.

Both the Almudí Palace and El Mayayo will install a fire prevention system with communication in the event of an incident with the alarm center, and a video surveillance system inside and outside, connected to the alarm center and the Local Police, to secure and improve the anti-intrusion system.

In addition so that those responsible for security and the SEIS can see in real time the situation of the files and dependencies, an image transmission system will be installed, mounting a fixed screen in the Room of 080 in Polygon Infante Don Juan Manuel.

At the Palacio Almudí, where the fire detection and extinction system already exists, the extinguishing agent will be replaced, replacing the NAF S-III gases with difluor bromochloromethane, according to the directive of the European Economic Community, for affecting these to the ozone layer.

In Finca el Mayayo there is also already installed a first phase of the fire detection and extinction system, so the second phase works must be carried out, while also replacing the NAF S-III gases of the first phase.

This second phase includes the installation of the automatic extinguishing system in the archives of the ground floor, in the administrative area, hall and corridors.

At the same time, the new system will be equipped with a high-power generator that prevents power cuts.

The City Council will invest in these works, which will be executed within a period of nine months, a maximum of 301,304 euros.
