The Cathedral will host the III International Organ Cycle during the month of November (31/10/2017)

The Cathedral of Murcia will host next November the III International Organ Cycle that will allow Murcia and visitors to enjoy five concerts.

The contest will begin next Friday with Javier Cartigas, organ professor of the Conservatory of Music of Murcia, who will perform pieces by Dietrich Buxtehude, Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Cesar Franck and Theodore Dubois.

Cartigas has offered concerts in Europe, Asia and America in the most important festivals dedicated to Ancient Music, both as a soloist and member of chamber groups such as Marsis Ministrils, Les Sacqueboutiers de Toulouse, I Turchini ... Collaborate as an assistant teacher and cembalista in opera productions of different Spanish theaters.

He has been coordinator of the organ restoration plan of the Region of Murcia;

creator and director of the Organ Cycle of the Region of Murcia and Artistic Director of the restoration of the Merklin-Schütze organ (1854) of the Cathedral of Murcia

On Thursday 9 November it will be the turn of Wayne Marshall, organist and conductor of the WRD Radio Orchestra of Cologne, who will offer a sheet music interpretation of Franz Schmidt, C. Saint-Saëns, Ch. M. Widor, JS Bach, Enrico Bossi, Franz Liszt and his own improvisation.

Marshall was named principal guest conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi in 2007 and is a renowned interpreter of the work of Gershwin, Bernstein, and other twentieth-century American musicians.

In June 2017 he made his debut with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and directed Wynton Marsalis' Swing Symphony, both televised live.

He has also debuted as conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic at the Jazz Festival of the same city.

On Thursday 16 November, the titular organist of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Coro of San Sebastian, Loreto Aramendi, will offer a recital with works by J. Alain, Franz Liszt, Sergej Rachmaninov, Camille Saint-Saëns, JS Bach, Gabriel Fauré and Charles Tournemire

Aramendi has offered numerous recitals at international festivals both in Spain and in the US, Argentina, England, Italy, Belgium, France and Holland.

She has been a collaborator of the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra for several years.

It offers concerts as a soloist and within various groups as well as organist, pianist and harpsichord, covering its repertoire all times and styles

On Thursday 23 November, Daniel Oyarzábal, titular organist of the Getafe Cathedral and main organist of the National Orchestra of Spain, will perform pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Soler, José de Larrañaga, Modest Mussorgski, Gustav Holst, Jesús Guridi, Camille Saint -Saëns, and Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov.

As a key and organ soloist, his main instrument, Oyarzábal has performed in concert at important venues such as the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theater, the Düsseldorf Opernhaus opera house, the Tallinn Estonian Concert Hall, the Lyon Auditorium, the Palau de The Arts Reina Sofía and Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, ​​the Teatro Real and the National Music Auditorium in Madrid, the Stiftbasilika in St. Florian in Austria and the cathedrals in Moscow, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Florence , León and Sevilla, to name a few.

The cycle will end on Thursday 30 November, with the concert of Alfonso Guillamón de los Reyes, canon Prefect of Sacred Music and titular organist of the Cathedral of Murcia, which will offer a recital of scores by Johann Sebastian Bach, JB Cabanilles, C.Franck, and L. Boellmann.

Numerary Piano Teacher, he obtained the number one in the competitions held in Madrid in 1993. He has been a professor of that specialty, as well as organ, at the Conservatory of Music of Murcia and holder of Piano at the Professional Conservatory of Music Narciso Yepes of Lorca.

For 14 years he has directed the Musical Cycles of Autumn and Spring of the Espin de Lorca Cultural Center, as well as the commemorative Recitals of Saint Cecilia of the San Fulgencio Theological Institute of Murcia, the Piano Festivals of the La Encarnación Spa of Los Alcázares and the Cycles of Concerts of chamber music and pianists of the San Antonio Catholic University.

All concerts will be held at 8.30 pm with free admission.
