The I Conference of Young Researchers are held at the UMU (27/10/2017)

The 30th and 31st of October will be held at the Centro Social Universitario the First Interdisciplinary Conferences of Young Investigators, organized by AJIUM, the Association of Young Investigators of the University of Murcia, in collaboration with the Vice-Rectorate of Students, Internationalization and Sports, and enrolled in the framework of the University Welcome.

These seminars, open to all thematic areas, have as main objective to extol the value of interdisciplinarity as an indispensable element for the advancement of science, as well as to offer information, tools and associations channels to young people who show interest in the world of research and are in the early stages of this long career.

It will be two intense days of activity open to the whole university community and focused on young researchers.

The seminars have more than three hundred participants from different areas of knowledge, who will participate in the workshops and activities and present communications on their first research, generating synergies in a multidisciplinary dialogue.

The inaugural session will include the Rector of the University, José Orihuela Calatayud;

the Director General of Universities and Research of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Juan Monzó;

the Vice-rector of Students, Internationalization and Sports, Carmen Ferrándiz;

the Director of the International School of Doctorate of the University of Murcia, Gregorio Sánchez Gómez, and two of the co-directors of the Conference, Ana Isabel Ponce Gea, President of AJIUM, and Alba Saura Clares, Vice President of AJIUM.

Four training workshops are offered for the beginning of the research career, given by specialists from the university community: "How does UMU help me? Discovering Research Support Services", taught by María Teresa Castells Mora, Director of Research Support Service;

"How to start the research path? Funding, scholarships and projects", by Emma Martínez López, General Research Coordinator, Vice-Rector of Research at the University of Murcia;

"Initiation to the search of resources: bibliography, newspaper library and databases", by Diego Ruiz, Head of the Health Sciences Collection of the Library Service of the University of Murcia;

and "How to face my first articles?", by Isabel Guerrero Llorente (Isabel I / UNIR).

Gustavo Schwartz (CSIC-UPV / EHU, San Sebastián) will give the plenary session of the Conference, in an interesting reflection, paradigmatic in the space of this meeting, entitled "Tangled realities and transdisciplinary knowledge".

In addition, the seminars will have a round table on The present and future of science, where José Orihuela Calatayud (Rector of the University of Murcia), Juan Monzó Cabrera (Director General of Universities and Research of the Region of Murcia), David Lorenzo Morillas Fernández (Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Murcia), María González Veracruz (Deputy in the Cortes Generales PSOE) and Esther Peñalver Ibarra (Director of CEEIM, European Center of Companies and Innovation of Murcia).

The Conference will be closed with a closing session where Antonio Juan García Fernández, Vice-Rector of Research will speak;

Antonio González Valverde, Director of the Séneca Foundation, Juan José Alarcón Cabañero, Director of CEBAS-CSIC;

Antonia Baeza Caracena, Student Coordinator;

and Gabriel Lozano Reina, co-director of the Conference and Secretary of AJIUM.

Each evening, parallel sessions of communications and poster will take place, where the young researchers will present their research work from the perspective of the different areas.

The Journeys are expected to be intense and enriching to open the way for young researchers.

A space of joint reflection through science and knowledge.
