Plenary agrees to increase budget by 1.9 million euros for direct management of municipal boards (26/10/2017)

The Plenary also approves to allocate 1.2 million to make the green path between Los Ramos and Los Dolores an initiative proposed and defended by the Socialist Group on numerous occasions since ADIF abandoned the old railway line in 2008

The spokeswoman of the Municipal Socialist Group, Susana Hernández, was satisfied on Thursday after approving the municipal plenary nearly two million euros to increase the budget for direct management of municipal councils.

"That was one of the main objectives of the PSOE, so we work so much to amend the Budgets of the City of Murcia. Now, thanks to these 1.9 million euros more for direct management, most municipal boards have doubled their budget, which means that we are getting what we wanted: begin to correct inequalities and give the boards greater autonomy. "

On the other hand, the October plenary has also approved another of the demands that the Socialist Group has carried for years: that of the green corridor in the old railway network between Los Ramos and Los Dolores.

Since ADIF abandoned the grounds of the old roads in 2008, the PSOE has been claiming its conditioning as a green path through communications and motions approved in plenary.

In this month's session, an investment of 1.2 million euros has been approved to make it a reality.

"We like to see that, although late and trying to get the PP sign up, our proposals for improvement for the municipality are progressing," said the spokeswoman.

In addition, the Plenary of October has approved the investment of one million euros to try to mitigate the damages of the torrential rains, "an investment that arrives late for the rains of this year (which if torrential cause a great number of damages and problems in the municipality) but we hope that it will serve to anticipate the torrential rains that can occur in 2018 ".

In relation to the motions presented and defended by the Socialist Group, it is worth mentioning the approval of a motion to revise the security protocol that protects the workers and workers of Social Services in cases of emergency.

The Plenary has also approved an initiative to allow students of post-compulsory studies to access school transport, and another motion so that the MU-30's third lane project does not entail the removal of the Boatmen link to the MU-31 .

The socialist motion has also been approved so that the telephony antenna installed in the Sangonera la Verde center is removed and a better location is sought.

Among others, the support of the Plenary has also been obtained to initiate the procedures to appoint the first regional president of democracy, Andrés Hernández Ros, Favorite Son of the City of Murcia.

The rehabilitation of the Cabezo de Torres Auditorium and the installation of sidewalks and roundabouts that improve the safety of the Salabosque and the Southern Coastal Paths have been other motions of the PSOE approved in October.

Approved are also the motion on the need to improve policies related to the fight against gender violence and the initiative to review the contract currently maintained by the City of Murcia with the company that provides the bicycle rental service, in order that it improves since it presents serious deficiencies.

Finally, the Plenary has approved an alternative motion to the one defended by Councilman Sebastian Peñaranda to establish a quality management system in the City of Murcia.

Given the refusal of the PP to vote the motion of the Socialist Group, Councilor Begoña García Retegui has withdrawn the motion to elaborate the municipal budgets taking into account the gender perspective.
