The recovery of Los Rosales faces its final stretch with the approval of the improvement of the remaining 275 houses (25/10/2017)

Mayor José Ballesta signs the agreement that includes the 275 remaining houses next to the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transportation and Housing, Julio Gómez-Pomar, and the councilor Pedro Rivera.

By the end of Phase II, the integral recovery of this neighborhood of El Palmar will have been achieved, with the renovation of a total of 900 homes with more than thirty blocks and the improvement of plazas and gardens.

The recovery of the neighborhood of Los Rosales, in the hamlet Murcian of El Palmar, faces its final end with the approval of the financing necessary to culminate the improvement of an area comprising the remaining 275 houses of the blocks that remained to be rehabilitated.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, today signed the agreement that will make it possible with the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, Julio Gómez-Pomar;

the general director of Architecture, Housing and Land of the Ministry, Antonio Aguilar;

the Minister of Presidency and Promotion, Pedro Rivera;

and Laura Sandoval, Director General of Territorial Planning, Architecture and Housing.

The action, which will benefit all of the 6,000 residents resident in the neighborhood and will begin throughout 2018, has a budget of 1.6 million euros of which the City Council will invest more than half of the funds, a 55 , 34% (903,733 euros);

while the Ministry of Development will pay 35% (571,546 euros) and CARM the remaining 9.66% (157,710 euros).

By the end of this phase II, the complete recovery of this neighborhood will have been achieved, with the renovation of a total of 900 houses with more than thirty blocks and the improvement of common spaces, with the fitting of squares and community recreation areas .

The agreement signed today is the result of the agreement of the Bilateral Commission, held last October, within the extension of the State Plan for the Promotion of Housing Rental, Building Rehabilitation, and Regeneration and Urban Renewal 2013-2016.

In addition to the mayor of Murcia, agreements have been signed by the mayors and councilors of Cartagena, Lorca, Santomera, Ceutí, Blanca, Abarán, Mula, Fortuna, Totana, Alcantarilla, Ojós and Albudeite.

The works of Phase I, about to conclude

Phase I works in Los Rosales are nearing completion and have included the improvement of both housing blocks built in the late 1960s and early 1970s (renovation of sanitation, replacement of decks, adequacy of facades and common spaces between blocks, repairs of stairs, balconies and access roads of the houses ...), as well as common areas, squares and pedestrian zones.

The most social face of Los Rosales: Espacio ARRU

The recovery project for the neighborhood of Los Rosales has a strong social component and participation and neighborhood involvement, through the programs to promote employment, coexistence and socio-educational workshops carried out by the City Council, in collaboration with NGOs such as Columbares, Cepaim, Rasinet, Gipsy Secretariat or the association Copedeco.

Specifically, a social clause was incorporated in the works, whereby the contractor must incorporate 30% of unemployed employees in the neighborhood 8, especially young and long-term unemployed).

At the moment, there are 14 people of the neighborhood contracted in the work.

On the other hand, the City Council encourages the constitution of Homeowners Communities of rehabilitated buildings, to prolong their conservation and good state among all.

Actions are also carried out to improve coexistence and neighborhood mediation.

During the course of the work, an Information Office was set up in the neighborhood so that the neighbors knew firsthand the characteristics and content of the plan, being permanently informed.

Also, a local, the ARRU Space (Area of ​​Rehabilitation and Urban Regeneration), recently rehabilitated in the center of the neighborhood where the different social actions are realized.

Thus, socio-educational actions are carried out, such as exhibitions, projections, mural painting courses for young people, workshops within the Clean-up Plan and Collection of Urban Waste, DIY courses, family health, etc.
