The PSOE proposes a School Transport Plan that will reach the students of FP and Baccalaureate of the most distant districts of the city (18/10/2017)

The councilman demands that "there is not a single student from any part of the municipality who leaves school because it is difficult and expensive to move to the center"

The Socialist Municipal Group proposes in a motion that will defend in the next plenary a Regional School Transport Plan that includes as beneficiaries of this service the students of non-compulsory education, especially Baccalaureate and Vocational Training, especially those who live in the most districts remote

Councilor Juan Vicente Larrosa states that "the lack of adequate transportation has a direct impact on the quality of education and, what is worse, prevents equal opportunities from reaching all students, wherever they live."

In this sense, the councilman states that "there is no doubt that public education, which reaches all corners of our region, is the one that ensures the schooling of the population wherever it is and, therefore, that serves as a vehicle for equality of opportunity, for building a future that guarantees social cohesion and overcoming inequalities of origin, as well as the structuring of a society that must have a common goal: the individual, social and collective progress of all " .

In addition, it affects "the damages caused by this obvious lack of public transport because sometimes the student leaves school or fails to attend certain hours of class since the combination of buses is harmful and, at other times, is an excessive cost for families, who are forced to rent flats so that their children, aged between 16 and 18, can attend classes regularly. "

Therefore, it requires that "there is not a single student from any part of the municipality who leaves school because it is difficult and expensive to move to the center"

Also, Larrosa warns that the Order that regulates the organization, operation and management of the school transport service establishes that the Ministry of Education may authorize the use of buses attached to school routes for students who take post-compulsory studies alone in the event that there are spare places, so it is "clearly insufficient to serve all students, who must run the transportation costs or find alternative means to go to the institute."

And remember that "while there are centers of FP or Baccalaureate in the districts near or relatively close to the capital, this is not the case in the towns of Campo de Murcia, with the usual damage to its neighbors."

For all these reasons and "in order to overcome the constraints that the Ministry of Education establishes when it comes to covering the need to transport students in post-compulsory education, we must adequately finance public education and bet on the free service of school bus, "concludes the mayor.
