NOW MURCIA requests the mediation of the City Council in a new labor dispute of the drivers of the 'coloraos' buses.

These professionals report that for several years they have been forced to travel in their private vehicles from the headquarters of the company, in the industrial estate West, to the place where the commute of this public transport, usually Circular Square.

"The situation is clearly abusive, as well as rocambolesca," says councilor Angeles Micol, "that drivers move with their private vehicle from the premises of the company, where they start their work day, to the point of the urban area where he begins his journey. Then there the driver who was en route takes the private car with which his partner has arrived to return to the industrial estate.

The mayor explains that drivers have 20 minutes to move from one point to the other, "computed as effective working time, but to do so they must provide their own vehicles and have no payment for mileage, a salary, insurance, or anything ".

"It is possible that the company does not have the obligation to provide transportation for its workers, but it is also true that workers are not obliged to provide their personal vehicle," Micol points out.

"Thus, Latbus drivers use to move between the company and the bus that must conduct the company's own transport, while in the Local Police agents are transported between them in the vehicles of the body."

Micol explains that "it could be understood that with this practice workers would be assuming risks and expenses that correspond to the company, which does not seem compatible with being a salaried worker. This situation could be violating, therefore, the Workers' Statute"

The Councilor says that "what is clear is that this situation that has been occurring since the 'colors' changed the location of its facilities, is a problem for workers, so that the City, as a contracting entity and responsible for this service, should provide a solution. "

For this reason, the municipal group has demanded in writing to the mayor Roque Ortiz to take the matter to the next meeting of the Transport Committee of the Municipality "or that mediate directly between the company and the Committee."

"One possible solution would be for a relief bus to carry out these trips," says the councilor, "but in any case it is a question of seeking a remedy to this labor dispute."

Workers starting on Wednesday at 13.00 hours will begin to go together and on foot to the town center to the buses with which they are responsible for performing the service.
