The PSOE proposes to Plenary to nominate a favorite son to Hernández Ros, first president of the Autonomous Community (17/10/2017)

The Municipal Socialist Group proposes in a motion, which will defend in the next Plenary, that is named Favorite Son of the City of Murcia to Andrés Hernández Ros, who after the creation of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia in 1982 was its first president .

Councilman Sebastián Peñaranda believes that Hernández Ros, who died at the age of 67, "is a great representative of the struggle for workers' rights and for democracy, which had the difficult task of governing a newly launched Autonomous Community, , of nothing".

He also emphasizes the former president, who already received the Gold Medal of the Region of Murcia in 2012, for "his courage in some difficult years by the Francoist oppression."

In fact, he was imprisoned in the Provincial Prison accused of illicit association.

"

Andrés Hernández Ros was born in the place of La Galapacha, pertaining to the murcian hamlet of Guadalupe.

He studied industrial masters, in the specialty chemistry, in the educational center that the Society of Jesus had in the Monastery of Los Jerónimos.

In1978 he was elected general secretary of the PSRM-PSOE, and later became president of the Regional Council of Murcia, a regional autonomous entity of the Autonomous Community.

In the regional elections of 1983 was headlining by the Socialist Party, being the most voted option, with 52.5% of votes and 26 seats, which gave the absolute majority.
