The UMU creates a Chair of Food Biotechnology (16/10/2017)

The University of Murcia (UMU) and the company Productos Sur (PROSUR), which has its headquarters in the West industrial estate, today signed, on 16 October, a collaboration agreement creating the Chair of Food Biotechnology .

The objectives will be to raise awareness and dissemination of the research developed in the Chair at national and international level;

the promotion of training activities, such as conducting doctoral theses, master's degrees and specialist courses, and promoting training and research activities on the research lines of the same.

Also, it is contemplated the realization of practices of the students of the UMU in the facilities of the mentioned company, among others.

Under the agreement, the company cited will provide an annual funding of 30,000 euros.

At the signing ceremony, the vice-rector of Transfer, Entrepreneurship and Employment, Francisca Tomás, emphasized the importance of the agreement, to add that the UMU is a leading researcher in the field of research will collect the Chair.

For his part, the administrator of PROSUR, Juan de Dios Hernández, has indicated that the agreement wants to contribute a grain of sand for the university to participate in the growth of society.

He has also asked the rector, José Orihuela, to have the spaces that the Chair will need for its development, for which he has promised to collaborate.

The event was also attended by the director general of the company, Elena Hernández;

the director of research of the same, Isidro Guillén, and UMU professors Pedro Soto, Francisco José Bastida and Fulgencio Marín, the latter, director of the Chair.
