The second edition of the festival of art and urban transformation, organized by the Cordillera Sur Murcia Youth Association with the collaboration of Fundación Cepaim and the City of Murcia, replaces music with the surroundings of the old station of Beniaján
From 1 October and for a whole week, an ample program of activities has filled various areas of music, dance, cinema and leisure in the hamlet, filling them with animation and culture, a statement of intentions of what came to the public the night of last Saturday with the great concert of closing of the festival celebrated in the old station of Beniaján.
Nearly a thousand people could dance to the rhythm of Road Ramos, Mr. Kilombo, Chiki Lora, Karmakadabra and the great discovery of this edition: the Murcian band Elure, winner of the first contest of bands Cordillera Sur.
A total of five groups in a same stage that also happened the singer Beniajanense Gala, vocalist of Clot, that began, next to the group Karmakadabra, a bodypainting in direct to the attentive and curious look of the hundreds of spectators that congregated together to the old railway facilities.
This environment is again suitable for the celebration of the event taking into account the philosophy of the festival and the organizing association itself, as its initiatives are intended to fill content abandoned or underutilized spaces of Beniaján always counting on the involvement of youth.
The Community Center "La Estación", which has its headquarters in the old loading dock, has been working for several years for the recovery of space thanks to the support of neighbors Beniaján and the Municipal Board.
The Cordillera Sur Fest only strengthens the community spirit and integrates all the improvement proposals that revolve around a place so emblematic and unique.
This year, in addition, we have counted on the collaboration of local groups to carry out the activities, such as "Cinema and music" and other entities, such as the MODAlogía group, which made "El exchanger" in "La Estación".
The organizational and public success of this second edition also demonstrates the good work carried out by the association "Cordillera Sur Murcia" which, with only three years of experience, has already achieved important achievements in favor of local youth and has channeled many of its interests.
The network work and the collaboration obtained for the celebration of the festival by the Cepaim Foundation, the Institute of Cultural Industries of the Region of Murcia or the City of Murcia through the Neighborhood Council of Beniaján, endorse the support of all these institutions to the association and its interest in supporting this type of projects that give an efficient, successful and highly acclaimed response to the cultural demands of the youth group of the area.
The Councilor for Youth and Cooperation of the City of Murcia, Rebeca Pérez, the president of the municipal council, Francisco Hernández and members of the same, supported with their presence the celebration of this festival that has reached the South Mountain Range to stay.
Fundación Cepaim has been working since 1994 to promote a model of an inclusive and intercultural society that facilitates full access to citizenship rights for the most vulnerable people in our society and, especially, migrants.
We are currently present in 9 autonomous communities (Andalusia, Aragon, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Extremadura, Madrid, Murcia and Valencia), the autonomous city of Ceuta and with its own presence in Senegal.
With a total of 32 territorial centers we emphasize our direct intervention with people at risk of social exclusion in the neighborhoods of the territories where we are located, working on International Housing and Protection, Housing, Work Placement and Training, Community Action, Equality, Diversity Management and Non-Discrimination, Rural Development and Entrepreneurship, and Development Cooperation and Co-development.
