The registration deadline begins so that the civic brigades and the Grafiti Municipal Office offer a talk of awareness in schools, institutes and centers for the elderly and women (06/10/2017)

The Department of Development, directed by Roque Ortiz, together with the concessionaire Ferrovial Servicios, have launched a comprehensive campaign of awareness through talks that seeks to Murcia to collaborate with the City in maintaining a clean Murcia thus achieving a continuous improvement of the municipality.

"One of the keys to achieving this goal is the realization of awareness talks through education, since a well-informed population is a more responsible population," Ortiz explained.

Each of the talks that begin in the coming weeks are tailored to the profile of the people to whom they are addressed, with the intention of being amicable and dynamic meetings:

Thus, the talks in schools will be the members of the civic Brigades that will talk about urban hygiene and environment;

those of institutes and young spaces, will be given by artists who collaborate with the Grafiti Municipal Office and in the centers of Elderly and Women, will be the civic Brigades and will try to collaborate also the cleaning worker of each neighborhood or hamlet .

With this new program of talks the groups to which it is addressed are extended, covering all the age groups and occupation of the society and incorporating new subjects that are of interest for the citizens.

The councilman explained that "the cleaning service is a living service, which has to evolve and adapt continuously to the changes of the city. Therefore another objective of these talks is to conduct a re-feedback with citizens, gathering information and opinions of the attendees , which will serve as a study to continue advancing in our task of raising awareness and improving the service to our neighbors.

Talks in School Centers about urban hygiene and the environment

Discussions will continue in schools in the municipality, "because children are the future as well as being on many occasions who teach the rest of their family members what is the civic behavior learned," Ortiz explained.

The main novelty of this year is that the members of the Civic Brigades will go to the classroom.

With this immersion it is sought to get the figure of the Brigade Amiga allied with the children and girls of the neighborhood, thus making them agents responsible eco-assistants in the work of fulfilling the correct guidelines of cleaning and separation of waste in your neighborhood.

They also make available, not only to the students, but also all the staff in the schools to solve doubts, to collaborate with the information needed by the schools in order to provide useful tools to get a greater involvement in the care and maintenance of cleanliness in our city.

This work started in 1994 has been growing and evolving, so since the last year and for the first time, the activities of the first stage of primary education (1st, 2nd and 3rd year) were expanded with the presence of Drilo who teaches him to recycle.

In the year 2016 the awareness campaigns reached more than 16,000 people.

Drilo the crocodile taught to recycle more than 6,000 students from 5 to 10 years.

The lectures on 'Urban hygiene, environment and waste', reached 92 schools, 3,304 students in 4th grade who enjoyed the activity 'The game of waste' and more than 3,428 of 5 th course that participated in the activity ' Trash from before, waste from now '.

The visit to the facilities of Cañada Hermosa to see in situ the daily treatment to which the waste is submitted remains the activity most demanded by a larger population scope of all ages.

From the students of 6th year of the schools of the municipality, more than 3590 students visited her.

But we must add the 1,119 visitors from various groups, such as IES, University, Adult Centers, who year after year request this view because it is indispensable in the training of their students.

Talks of the Grafiti Municipal Office

In the case of lectures given by the GMO, the target audience is comprised of young people between 12 and 18 years of age, since at these ages it is more effective to act, inform and raise awareness to differentiate between urban art and vandalism

Thus the talk will consist of two parts: the first with the aim of raising awareness that the city must be looked after as if it were its own home, because it is the heritage of all Murcia, and that it will deal with the following topics:

- Conservation of the heritage that we have inherited from generations and generations through the centuries and the damages, sometimes irreversible, that cause this type of actions.

- Regulatory regulations and corresponding sanctions.

- The costly cleaning techniques that have to be used and what we could invest what we would save.

The second block by a local artist (Nels) will include

- What is Graffiti?

- Suitable places to express it.

- From Graffiti to art.

- Personal experiences.

Both the points of block 1 and of block 2 will be supported with digital support through images and will be taught by young monitors who speak the same language so that the students feel identified with them.

Talks in centers of majors and women

"For more than a year with the implementation of these brigades, the objective, among others, has been to inform establishments, commercial premises or bars of compliance with the municipal ordinance. We now seek to disseminate this ordinance to citizens in general, also responsible for maintaining cleanliness of their environment, "Ortiz explained.

The Brigades have gathered experience since its start, have collected suggestions from citizens, know first hand the mistakes, bad habits, and this information serves as a foundation for support in their talks and tell in first person anecdotes, curiosities doing the dynamic activity, playful but above all practical and informative.

In addition they will be supported by the workers of the zone because who can better explain the importance of the cleaning that the person who realizes it daily
