The City of Murcia regrets the clashes that occurred yesterday in the vicinity of the train tracks, passing through Santiago el Mayor and ending with a wave of vandalism that have seriously affected the placement of the acoustic screens and the works that are being carried out, as well as recording stone throws against the media that were carrying out their information work.
In the same way, it condemns a series of events provoked by a large group of protesters, of a radical nature, which prevented the work of the state security forces and bodies, which throughout the day tried to guarantee the correct development of the works as well as security of all the people who were demonstrating in an area of ​​high danger like the passage at level of Santiago the Greater.
It also reiterates the right to the demonstration of all Murcia, as long as it is done from respect and tolerance, and appeals to all political forces and associations of the municipality to face with responsibility the implementation of a vital project for the social and economic development of the city.
It should be remembered that the City of Murcia has not ceased its efforts to find solutions to the problems that the neighborhood platforms transfer, seeking to alleviate the damages caused by the works of an infrastructure of such magnitude whose only objective is to unite the north zone and south of the city and offer 200,000 square meters of green spaces and use for citizens.
That is why, to the works completed and programmed, are still looking for new ways to improve the permeability of neighborhoods.
After the meeting of the Sociedad Murcia Alta Velocidad on Monday, the commitment of the central, regional and local administrations was revealed once again for the burial of the roads, informing of the dates and budgets approved for this work.
In this way, the provisional route will be completed in the first months of 2018, and will be dismantled two years later, when the works of the first phase of the burial are completed.
And all this guaranteeing the free passage of pedestrians uninterrupted by the passage to level of Greater Santiago and the circulation of vehicles by the enabled steps.
For its part, in 2023 will be completed works of the burial of the station of Carmen and Barriomar and urbanization of the environment, the second phase of the project.
All this will have a budget of 568 million euros.
